Thoughts on James Joyce's why, why publish to the public with mass media of books and magazines?
My answers are many and many times recursive. Alas, I still try to ponder and try to compose some English and metaphor symbols to describe it...
"That is the meaning of love. In the final analysis, love is not this sentimental something that we talk about. It's not merely an emotional something. Love is creative, understanding goodwill for all men. It is the refusal to defeat any individual. When you rise to the level of love, of its great beauty and power, you seek only to defeat evil systems. Individuals who happen to be caught up in that system, you love, but you seek to defeat the system." - Dr. King, Jr., Martin Luther (1957-11-17).
Now take that idea throw it in a stew with James Joyce's ideas...
"I confess that I do not see what good it does to fulminate against the English tyranny while the Roman tyranny occupies the palace of the soul." - James Joyce, "Ireland, Island of Saints and Sages," lecture, Università Popolare, Trieste (27 April 1907)
And you end up with a Gumbo Stewing of your own life experience and the Tower of Babel metaphors of metaphors !BabelTower@lemm.ee and you start to see.... well, how do we all, we the people, we the animals of this Pale Blue Dot, love each other and not go into rage over systems of English and systems of Bible storytelling, and systems of Interpretation like Protestant vs. Catholic, and systems of comprehension, and systems of teaching? Do we pass down the whole dictionary and memorize it, or do we create an ever-expanding Wikipedia or series of Super Wiki systems like a series of books by James Joyce... and we keep expanding those until we have a complete Tower of Babel Super Wiki system, and we can look-up all the Public Library of all the world in an organized place and not just go into Catholic vs. Protestant hate the non-believer, hate those you disagree with, dehumanize those you disagree with complete ass-backwards reading of poetry and metaphors.
Then again, I often miss the central point of things. I wish more people would be loving of the human and less of the systems. Some might say the Holy Quran and the Bible, the Books of Love and Compassion teachings are inkblot art-metaphors tests, Rorschach tests, and you can read / reed / earworm hear / earwick anything you want into James Joyce's writing or The Bible or Upanishads.... some might say that.
