Fascinating to see a company go so all-in on greedy monetization, only to pull a 180 when players revolt.

I'd like to assume they learned some lessons, but I think trust between players and developers may have fundamentally broken.

I'd be curious what any active players think of this.

I didn't look close enough to see it as any greedier than SoF/TH. If I had to pick on the surface, I'd say this new thing was less pay to win (but maybe I'm mistaken).

To me, trust was already at an all time low for RS3; at this point I just assume the game is pay to win and Jagex will happily take as much money as I'm willing to give. It's become more of a cooperative game than a competitive game anyways, so I don't really get bothered by it like I used to (for better or worse).

It is curious that they're seemingly taking serious action this time and making immediate changes; like they seem way more interested in trying to fix it vs when they launched SoF/TH. Still I can't say my expectations for the final result are high after the gut punch that was "we've heard your feedback about how awful SoF is and we've... removed it! We're also adding Treasure Hunter ~~the exact same thing but with a different skin; don't tell the players~~!"

Welp, at least we know that if we raise enough of a stink they'll do something.
