Ibis is a federated online encyclopedia similar to Wikipedia. Users can read, create and edit articles seamlessly across instances. It uses the Activitypub protocol to connect users across different websites, similar to Mastodon or Lemmy.

For example:

Articles are posted to those communities from the respective Ibis instance by @wikibot@<instance-domain>. If an article isn't present on your instance, you can try forcing federation by searching its URI on your Lemmy instance.

Whoaa that rules!!! What a great idea!

PieFed has a built-in wiki system, but I would imagine it's probably not editable if you're a community mod from a Lemmy instance (and vice versa). I wonder if Ibis could replace ours, or at least be interoperable with it?

EDIT: As expected, I could pull up the linked wiki through a Lemmy account but not a PieFed one. Also vice versa, I could pull up a PieFed wiki from within PieFed but in Lemmy it opens as a webpage.

Feel free to open an issue for federation between Piefed and Ibis, at least in theory it should work. The wikis in Piefed are not federated.
