I remember Social Studies in High School in the eighties, discussing dictatorships.

I remember talking about Augusto Pinochet, and many of the terrible things he was doing, that simply didn't happen in democratic countries like the US, Canada, Western Europe.

That guy had the secret police snatching people off the streets.

Unthinkable in places where freedom and democracy are just a given.
