Women only trans inclusive This is an inclusive community for all things women. Whether you're here for make up tips, feminism or just friendly chit chat, we've got you covered.

Rules…

  1. Women only… trans women are women, and transphobic or gender critical talk isn’t allowed. Anyone under the trans umbrella (e.g. non-binary, bigender, agender) is free to decide whether a women's community is a good fit for them.
  2. Don’t be a dick. No personal attacks, no aggression, play nice.
  3. Don’t hate on groups, hatefilled talk about groups is not allowed. Ever.
  4. No governmental politics, so no talk of Trump actions etc. We recommend Feminism@beehaw.org for that, but here is an escape from it.
  5. New accounts or users with few comments may have their posts removed to prevent spam and bad-faith participation.

So, obviously I have an account here, and can block things I don't want to see.

I still lurk reddit (I know, I'm addicted to current news shit as I watch my country fall). But, heres the thing, every four post, it's something sexualizing women.

Here or there, it's the same. The anime places are the worst. Im not familiar with any anime, but any drawing I come across is nearly always infanilizing or objectifying women Even "maybemaybemaybe" this morning showed a video of a girl running, tits bouncing. I scroll past, some anime drawing of a girl tied up who bust through the wall with her ass. Be a femboy I don't care, but those post gross me out too, for the same reason, it over sexualizes womens bodies. Women are more than tits/ass in tight clothing.

But heaven forbid a man post himself shirtless, ripped, doing something, the comments will be "dude needs to put a shirt on".

Im just saying the rate of "tits out" women being sexualized on social media is like 1 man for every 10,000 woman.

I can't take it. It seems like these posts have increased in my line of sight the last 6months or so.

I just, don't like it. I really wouldnt mind if the ratio of sexualization was at least more even between masc and fem, but it's not.

Im frustrated this morning. Edit: I really wish women would just start being pigs right back, towards men on social media.

It is a constant battle blocking anime communities that post nsfw and just generally (in my opinion) depraved content, even here on Lemmy. I can't go 5 seconds without seeing extremely sexualised content of extremely proportioned anime girls. And as if that weren't bad enough a lot of them appear to blur the line of underrage content which is just disgusting. I really wish this wasn't so prevalent, or better yet, nonexistent. Not only does it feel degrading and dehumanising but also it can't be good for the mental health or sexual maturity of men either. I don't mind if men want to share content of women they find attractive so much but the hypersexualisation, extreme physical proportions, and predatory nature of a lot of the kind of content they do post is disturbing.

Obviously a large contributor is that our communities get drowned out or lost to the void because the ratio of people using these social media sites are producing extreme biases towards men and the sexualisation of women. Which leads to echo chambers of negative sexualisation which then leads to a spiral of greater extremes.

The way I see it there's still a negative social bias around male sexualisation and a whole lot of hetero fragility.

Men that prescribe to that treat content that sexualises a man as being negative (and worse still, gay [I don't believe this personally I'm just talking in that mindset]). Because for them to even see that kind of content, even if it wasn't meant for them is, is unnacceptable. It's not simply a case of filtering the content. No it shouldn't have even been put in front of them at all. But for us why isn't filtering this content enough? we are made to accept their way and they are not expected to accept, or even tolerate, our way.

I'm bi but the hypersexuality of women online pushed me towards being hetero for a long time. It just drained any desire I had to be open about my own sexuality even internally. I know that online is only a part of my interaction with the world but it certainly contributed a lot against me being honest with myself about my sexuality. I can't even begin to imagine what effect it's having on straight men.

Wow, yes. You worded this beautifully, in a way I couldn't.

Thank you so much for writting this out. It doesn't change the internet spaces we navigate, but it does bring some inner relief to know someone else gets it. I don't have much to add, but thank you.

Edit, you mentioned you being bi and The hypersexualization keeps you or has kept you from being in a relationship with a woman. I feel like it has the same parallels to why in music, I don't like many female led metal bands. I love all kinds of music, but when it comes to metal I've an aversion to female led ones. Why? Because I've heard men sexualize them so often. My moneky brain feels it as competition, they are usually way more beautiful than me, so I feel some vile anger come up when I hear about them. Its not their fault, and at least I'm aware I'm being unfair. But that bias is there because men take it too far, all the time, and now I feel inferior/jealous of these powerhouse women.

Adding, I am a powerhouse of a woman, it's dopey this happens. I didn't link that together though, my bias, until just now.

It's so overt which is really scary, the bad men get extreme online. It's awful.

I just don't understand why softcore porn is allowed to be posted everywhere. Art or a meme, it's softcore porn and I don't understand why I have to be subjected to see it.

A lot of people dislike it, it can be horribly triggering for some people as well.

Is the Kickass women of history series still ongoing? I would like to nominate Rose Valland. During WWII, she spied on the Nazis who were systematically stealing art from France. She helped find and return stolen art after the war was over.

I recently listened to a podcast episode about her passion and she was a remarkable woman!

It was the brilliant @ZDL@lazysoci.al that was doing that

[–] ZDL@lazysoci.al 3 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Yeah, that was me. But after pouring a lot of effort into eight of them and having them all just vanish in a puff of admin ire, I've decided I'm never putting that much work into a Fediverse thing ever again.

Understandable but it's a shame that it's not going to continue

I get it mate. Shame cos they were amazing but I totally understand

[–] ZDL@lazysoci.al 3 points 1 week ago

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Paid less and expected to shell out more 😩

[–] mauuumauukittycat@piefed.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

yh like corpos are like: “so we’re gonna encourage them to pay more” “so are we gonna pay them more” “hell nah, you want me to pay females a living wage? you dirty feminist liberal”

[–] hildegarde@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 4 days ago

is a nefarious scheme to get you to marry a man. You have to get one of those 30% higher "male" salaries in your household to pay those 30% higher "female" prices.

[–] LadyButterfly@piefed.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It literally is just an excuse to charge more
