But on Saturday, thousands of protests nationwide galvanizing millions under the banner of “No Kings” collectively pushed back against the ICE raids, the authoritarianism and the many other outrages of the past six months. In Seattle alone, 70,000 people marched from Capitol Hill to Seattle Center in one of the largest protests in memory. As the old farmworker chant goes, no matter how scared or overpowered, “el pueblo unido, jamás será vencido,” or the people, united, will never be defeated.

E pluribus unum was so much better than the current motto.
