Will they be hosted somewhere where we can all contribute git/wiki? Would like to contribute, but hard to do that without knowing what is in them.
Hm, that is true. I'm at work currently so I'm not actively working on them nor have access to my computer. The files will be made available on NotABug, the license will be CC BY NC SA
I use Linux mint, I've also used regular ubuntu in the past but it seems quite frustrating to get normal stuff to work that windows does easily. is debian mildly easier to use?
Compared to Mint, Debian is harder to use, Mint is probably one of the easiest distros to use. What did you have an issue with?
getting any games/controllers to work, DAW's like ableton or other audio editing software, even installing stuff correctly I still have no idea if I'm doing stuff right. I had to reinstall it a few times because I didn't give the distro enough space and it got stuck in a os boot loop. i now just use it as basically a youtube/streaming computer connected to my dumb tv via hdmi. i guess i would consider myself intermediate when it comes to computer stuff and I find even getting the right info confusing and daunting as I've never talked anyone irl about it, completely self taught in this field.
If you're loking for a DAW on linux i can recommend Ardour.
Unfortunately some hardware sellers (like canon, ugh) have no linux support. So now whenever I buy something new I research their support before I buy any products.
I was an intermediate user for a long time, but what helped me get more into it was following the archlinux installation guide. Really showed me how the system is build "under the hood". Like what the difference between a compositor and a window manager is and stuff like that.
Next, if I find the time, I plan to go the gentoo/lfs route, wich is basically building the car from it's parts.

Which Debian distro will be recommended? I would make sure it is something with newer packages, otherwise people can run into issues with hardware compatibility among other things. Will things like gaming be mentioned, it is till among the most common reasons people refuse to use Linux.
The current guide I'm working on is going to reccomend Linux Mint due to it being beginner friendly, having a well written and easy to follow installation guide and already containing a good amount of bundled software. It being Debian based helps with support for proprietary software, like printer drivers for example.
And yes, gaming will be mentioned! A section dedicated to Wine, Lutris, PlayOnLinux and Proton is in the works. Some of the first versions to the guide will be up shortly on NotABug.

Also, I would expand the part about different DEs or at least give some examples in the customization section. Considering that Mint doesn't come with KDE/GNOME which are most common DEs they should be at least mentioned.
ill do so but keep that to a minimum because its not available as a default choice, and choice overload can be discouraging
