The Steam Summer Sale is on and there's plenty of threads asking for great deals and hidden gems. So let's jump on that bandwagon! Anybody spotted any good deals on adventure games in the Steam sale?

Here's a few cheap and good experiences I spotted:

Broken Age: $3.74

Sam and Max Hit the Road: $2.09

Space Quest Collection: $6.59

The 7th Guest 25th Anniversary Edition: $7.49

I've heard some really good things about that one!

Some recent ones I like that I haven't seen mentioned yet are
NORCO
Thaumistry
The Nick Bounty trilogy
The Aching
Blood Nova

And then some games that aren't traditional adventure games but have some adventure game or Interactive Fiction elements:
Lake
Citizen Sleeper
Cartomancy Anthology

Norco is really cool

I just got The Last Door yesterday, interesing story (at least in the first part) and it gets the creepy atmosphere just right, though the puzzles are pretty easy. https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/275/The_Last_Door_Collectors_Edition_Bundle/

Also, Lair of the Clockwork God is awesome and everyone should play it. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1060600/Lair_of_the_Clockwork_God/

Thimbleweed Park ๐Ÿ˜ƒ A great point and click adventure by Ron Gilbert and Gary Winnick. I love it a lot

Such a good game. I think I like it even more than Return to Monkey Island.

Some of the ones i have in my wishlist:

The_Case_of_the_Golden_Idol

Lucy Dreaming

Crowns and Pawns: Kingdom of Deceit

The Excavation of Hob's Barrow

I haven't played them yet, but they all have at least Very Positive reviews

Lucy Dreaming is fantastic. I played it on my stream last year with the developer.

Highly recommend the Case of the Golden Idol. Really incredible game.

[-] kinsnik@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

[-] kinsnik@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

here a few weeks later to say that it is, indeed, an amazing game

[-] eldrichhydralisk 2 points 1 year ago

I haven't played any of those either. There's a lot more adventure games on Steam than I thought...

[-] Michael4000@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

yeah, I think last year was one of the best for the genre in a long time

Yeap, I can definitely recommend Gemini Rue, The Blackwell Games, Technobabylon, and Unavowed. All of them are decent and hearken back to the good old days of point-and-click adventure games.

Has anyone played Roadwarden yet? I'm downloading the demo now, but it's 33% off and relatively new (released in September '22).

[-] rdavis@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

Update: I played Roadwarden for about 4 hours straight this morning, so yeah I think it's going on my recommendations list. :)

Nice! Always good to see the Steam sale helping us find good games while it empties our wallets. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Planning on playing it this month for the monthly adventure game club I organize. It looks really cool and I think it's getting some sort of spinoff or game set in the same universe later this year
