Lots of settings to customize, aesthethic and active and wholesome development!
I had planned to switchover from GNOME, and never got around to it. Then I just wanted to support the work they're all doing on Steam Deck, which has been stellar.
It helps me make money
Interesting... How so?
@kde@floss.social, because #KDE is the best DE for me and I use it every day! So supporting the project was a no-brainer! ❤️ @kde@lemmy.kde.social
If I had money I would pay Nico to make the floating panel with gaps option a reality.
On that note, and for all readers: You CAN donate to individual developers.
Niccolò, for example, has Patreon, LiberaPay and PayPal (click on the "Support" button on his PeerTube channel); Nate has LiberaPay and PayPal links in the column on the right in his blog; you can sponsor Albert Vaca, one of the main contributors to KDE Connect, through GitHub; and so on and so forth.
Cause it is the best desktop environment on linux in my opinion. Actually makes feel like it your computer.
I've contributed to KDE for some years because I couldn't function on Linux without Plasma and apps like Okular and Dolphin. I wish it could be more, and maybe when I retire I'll start to contribute code too.
KDE is FULL of bugs, multi year bugs that go on and on, serious bugs that completely breaks many KDE products. They look good until you actually start using them.
KDE has never fixed any bugs I reported, no KDE developer, not a single one has ever replied to any of the bug reports I opened. No KDE developer has ever replied to messages in the various chats and message boards over the years so I gave up reporting anything or seeking help.
Other users have confirmed all the bugs. There is no help or community for using KDE at all.
Using KDE is like shouting into the void, it is a very isolating experience.
Why would I donate to a void?
And yet they fix hundreds of bugs and have a desktop experience head and shoulders above any other DE I've used, with many thousands of people apparently able to use it without issues. So you've decided KDE isn't worth your time, that's fine. Why are you bothering to follow the community, let alone throwing a negative comment in here?
Because troll.
KDE
KDE is an international technology team creating user-friendly free and open source software for desktop and portable computing. KDE’s software runs on GNU/Linux, BSD and other operating systems, including Windows.
Plasma 6 Bugs
If you encounter a bug, proceed to https://bugs.kde.org, check whether it has been reported.
If it hasn't, report it yourself.
PLEASE THINK CAREFULLY BEFORE POSTING HERE.
Developers do not look for reports on social media, so they will not see it and all it does is clutter up the feed.
