Why does Molly tend to always run as a background service when Signal didn't? Doesn't seem to use much more battery so I guess it's no biggy, just curious

afaik Molly doesn't use Google Play Services for notifications so it has to run constantly.

I have the non-fully FOSS variant installed. Doesn’t that ones use Play services?

I don't hide my drug use, usually.

Signal did run as a background service with Google play, Molly as been running as a background service on my phone for 1 day and 6 hours and used 1% of my battery.

For me it's 21 hours at less than 1%. Super easy on the battery.

It's far from the Google background processes...
