fires tucker

gets mad that tucker posts some videos on twitter

just makes me despise fox even more tbh. what disgusting people. you can't get mad someone is making videos on their own away from you if you've literally told them to fuck off.

I hate that non-competes exist, but it brings me no small amount of joy that these lousy labor practices are impacting Tucker Carlson. Fuck that guy.

Personally I like all the "fringe" news/journalist type people. I like Jimmy Dore, and I enjoy seeing Tucker Carlson's populist takes. Seeing the two of them together was pretty cool. Tucker says a lot of dumb shit though, you're right.

But when it comes to Fox vs Tucker, I'm more preferential to Tucker. Fox just is another major corporate news site at the end of the day.

Politically? Yes. He pushes populist far-right rhetoric and is an outsider to the typical "mainstream media". The view is popular among the right but still "fringe" in comparison to the mainstream political views of the masses and media. He's the Jimmy Dore of the rightwing.

he had the biggest show on cable for like, his entire run

that is almost definitionally the opposite of fringe. he's just unpopular with anyone outside of his niche, fascist base.

Tucker Carlson, formerly the most watched host on the most watched news network in the US, who set a record as the highest-rated program in U.S. cable news history is fringe?

Literally the "most popular individual Americans follow for news" is fringe?

I know they tell you that they aren't "mainstream", but they lie.

I think we're using "fringe" in a different way. By fringe I refer to the nature of the political views, not the popularity. Tucker is fringe because he's anti-establishment, far-right populist. This is a fringe worldview, even if it's popular among people on the right.

To say that Tucker isn't fringe/far-right is the same as saying biden is far-left or a communist. It's just not the case. Jimmy Dore is also fringe, yet is also fairly popular among the left. Communism and Socialism are fringe worldviews, yet are growing in popularity, especially online.

Tucker is very popular, but he's also fringe. Fringe beliefs are popular.

anti-establishment, far-right populist

Far-right is the only correct term used here.

Tucker is very popular, but he's also fringe. Fringe beliefs are popular.

"Left-wing" Tucker fan engages in blatant doublethink. Shocker.

I'm not exactly a tucker fan. I disagree with him on quite a lot. But I always appreciate people who speak their mind and speak against the media conglomerate and establishment rhetoric/ideology.

Also, you would not say tucker uses populist rhetoric? he and trump basically live and breathe it.

[-] LollerCorleone@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

Tucker was definitely not anti-establishment when Trump was US President. In fact, he was more of a sycophant.

You can if you literally signed a contract with him that said he wouldn’t do that

[-] Otome-chan@kbin.social 0 points 1 year ago

I feel like once they fired him, the contract should be voided since they no longer have anything to do with each other.

[-] Gh05t@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

I thought the article said his services would still remain exclusive to Fox until 2024 as part of the termination.

Yes that does seem to be the case, legally speaking. I'm just saying it's odd and really shouldn't be lol. if you fire someone why tf do they have any connection to you after that?

[-] Gh05t@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

I think it’s part of the deal they signed. While he was fired I’m pretty sure he was compensated more than fairly for that exclusivity and for agreeing to not get litigious. Either way there is absolutely no reason to feel sorry for Tucker.
