One would assume that if you paid for the 4K Netflix plan, you'd be able to watch media in 4K on all your devices? Unfortunately not, Netflix maxes out at 720p if you're watching in the browser.

If 🏴‍☠️ can watch whatever media they want in 4K from any device, but paying customers can't... the choice here is a no brainer.

Bonus: Louis has a mini rant about his $3000 LG TV which is packed with trackers, all enabled by default. A bit greedy of LG to also track user activity after paying that much money for the TV?

I’d like the add the experience of searching for something you want to watch.

Is it on Netflix, no. Is it on Disney plus, no?

Check online to see where it’s streaming and it’s on some random streaming service or just not available to stream anywhere.

Well, I know a site that has everything available at all times and it costs significantly less than the streaming services.

It’s truly a no brainer.

Fun fact: YouTube movies now doesn't support browsers over 480p either... Except safari.

Found that one out the hard way.

And in what other way can you interact with youtube? Through the PWA?

Phone apps, tablet apps, TV apps....

But I want to watch things on my computer, and prefer having a computer hooked up to the TV over "smart TVs". I bought things in HD/4K because I could watch them that way and for some reason they think it's okay to revoke that ability unless I decide to watch elsewhere. It's preposterous.

Exactly, i just wanna watch on my pc. Having a tv with a "tv os" is an extreme privacy issue and quite honestly an attack vector. Once, I had guessed a neighbor's wifi password and the first thing that popped on my phone was what he was watching.

Here is an alternative Piped link(s):

Piped is a privacy-respecting open-source alternative frontend to YouTube.

I'm open-source; check me out at GitHub.
