I'm jealous of the Intercity Cycleway.
If only they could figure out a way to get it down to Sandy Bay Rd, alas.
So what does everyome do now, cycle through or around those suburbs? What's the objection to the proposed walkway?
The walkway would be great IMO. I'm just griping that it hasn't gotten off the ground. :)
Normally from the wharf area I'll cut through Salamanca and join Sandy Bay Rd just past St David's Park and roll the dice going through the business district of Sandy Bay, which can be pretty gnarly. If you have more time you can follow the Salamanca waterfront around to the back streets of Battery Point and cross over the bridge at the bottom of Quayle St - the reverse direction hurts if you don't have an ebike though.
Go up top of the domain - the old way - jump on the highway, in the left lane, turn off into Sandy Bay Rd. The climb up Davey near council is much easier than anything in Salamanca, plus the new track around the front has that stupid kink in it that nukes your speed. Not to mention the road down lol.
- Go Salamanca on the way back though, hang right at the last lights before the corner to Argyle and take the footpath back up.
They want to build another one connecting two southern suburbs.

If it ever gets built what would it connect to on the southern side? Another track or just roads?
It's supposed to run along the beach, so guessing the existing broadwalk.
tourists :(
