Hi all!

I am excited to announce that my RetroAchievements companion app, RA Tracker, has officially launched on the iOS App Store!

Version 1 has many capabilities, all designed around maximizing the RetroAchievements experience and feeling right at home on your iOS Device.

  • View your completion progress for all games you are earning achievements for
  • View awards for mastering a game
  • View all of your recently earned achievements
  • See users that have earned specific achievements
  • View the Achievement of the Week and get a notification when a new one is posted!
  • View the top ten user leaderboard
  • Add games to the Backlog to keep track of what you want to play
  • Search for games by console to see what games currently have Achievements to earn
  • Create a list of games to track completion progress
  • Follow other RetroAchievements.org users and track their progress and recently earned achievements

I would absolutely LOVE to hear feedback from the community.

Once the final API endpoints get enabled, I will start work on the v2 update which will have much more information for users.

If you don't know what RetroAchievements is, now is a great time to check it out!

Just downloaded the app to give it a shot and I like how easy it is to browse the available games in the RA library and points for supporting dark mode. A few things I would like to see to use the app more would be

  • The ability to search the entire library for something like Pokémon for example and see all games for all consoles instead of selecting a console and then searching each one for Pokémon.

  • It would be nice to be able to see what achievements I’ve already unlocked when checking my progress for a game

  • I like seeing the extra stats on an achievement when selecting it, but it would be better if we could see the achievement description without having to select each achievement individually. I think the browsing has a lot of potential, but just needs some tweaks to keep me from looking through games on RA itself!

  • I’m not able to see the achievements in the games I’ve mastered by clicking on the award and they don’t show up in the progress section so it their was a way to easily look at the ones I’ve completed that would be nice too.

Overall, I think this is a great start and I’m excited to see where this goes

Thanks for the feedback, it’s great!

  1. This is something I have looked into. The calls weren’t incredibly efficient, so I didn’t include it in the release version. I’ll do some more looking into it, because I agree that it would be helpful.

  2. Totally. This is something that I’ll be able to include once the full RA API is turned back on. Expect it soon.

  3. You’re talking about on the game detail page? Good call. I’ll see what I can do.

  4. That’s not a use case I considered. I can definitely add that. Do you like the little pop up that happens when you tap your award or would you prefer to see the entire list of achievements and game details?

For the fourth response I do really like the notification in the little “trophy case” section for the awards! Though the master date has been showing “invalid date” for me and all users I’ve looked at so far just to give you a heads up!

I would say if I was able to go to the page for that game with the achievements list directly from the award that would be nice. Kind of like how it works on RA. Not sure how that would work with the notification though, but just a thought

Ah. Thanks for telling me about invalid date. I have a fix for that already. Update will be out soon. Thanks a ton!

I’ll throw together a couple different ways and see what works best.

Version 1.1.0 was just approved and will be rolling out shortly! It addresses all of your ideas above, except for game search. I’ll be looking into that this week.

Wow, that’s awesome! Again, thanks so much for listening to feedback. I’m excited to see how the changes are. I’ll give more feedback if I have any!

Looks like an endpoint that will enable both of these features has been turned on. Working on the feature now!

I think this looks really good actually. Thanks for the idea!

That’s much easier to browse the lists!

I've just bought a SteamDeck and planned on using it to revisit some older games that I loved. I'd never heard of RA until now, so this is new to me. But I've downloaded it and checked EmuDeck for compatibility. I'll definitely be getting some good use out of this app. Thank you!

Nice! That’s similar to how I found RA. Found it after I started playing on my MiyooMini+ and then started working on the app

Awesome! I just discovered retroachievements for my newly created counter top arcade machine!
