Internet access survey (maps.psc.wi.gov)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by rvd2k4@midwest.social to c/wisconsin@midwest.social

The State of Wisconsin is surveying who has internet access and how affordable it is. It's more than just a speed test, affecting how much federal funding each county will get to improve broadband. Please take it at https://maps.psc.wi.gov/apps/WISER/index.html

I might imagine a survey of Lemmy users might be biased toward faster internet. I wonder how this will be publicized to the state's broader population.

I'm in MI with 6mbps because there's only 1 ISP (semi-rural area).

Right now there is a lot of reliance on word of mouth. They are posting on social networks, local governments will promote it in their news letters and social as well, but it’s not going to get the marketing blitz that it really needs. I just found out because of a different group meeting.
