I noticed this outlined and shaded region in Gold Coast near Oak St Beach on Google maps, but don't know why it's shaded. Anyone have ideas?

I think it just means an area that is currently busy/has a lot of activity.

Can confirm it means busy area (busier than usual), depending on how much you zoom in it will show up heres another example:

Also you can tap for information on its busyness and things in the area
