After discussions with the manager today he has informed me he is changing captain. He outlined his reasons to me and whilst I’m personally extremely disappointed, I will continue to give my all every time I wear the shirt.

So I wanted to say a massive thank you to the Manchester United fans for all their brilliant support whilst I’ve been wearing the armband.

Since the day I took on the role, three and half years ago, it’s been a huge privilege to lead Manchester United and one of the proudest moments of my career to date. It’s one of the greatest honours in club football. I’ve done everything I possibly could to help United be successful - on and off the field.

I will always be grateful to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for first giving me the responsibility and I wish whoever now takes it on every success and they will have my full support.

This is so very, very, very true. Bench the whole last season and not a single negative comment leaked. Top professional even if he should never start ahead of Martinez, Lindelöf or Shaw. Let's just hope he doesn't put his heels in and tries to take back his place in this team. Dear god move on for everyone's sake.

It was bound to happen, it’s the best for all parties involved.

Fair play to Harry, he’s been very professional throughout this whole thing

Exactly, he never really became a bad player, he always tried his best for the team and seemed by all accounts to be a great captain. It was just he really didn't fit the playing style for the team, I expect to see him shine again at another team soon. All the best to him.

The right move in my opinion. I am wondering who will be the new captain. This will be an unpopular opinion, but I’m not so sure it should be Bruno. I don’t think his demonstrating to the ref and usual constant complaining are a mark of a true captain.

All a true captain needs to do is motivate the other players and set the standard. Bruno is surely perfect for that, if Licha had been here a little longer I wouldn't mind him at all, but it's gotta be Bruno overall. At least being captain means he's actually allowed to discuss with the referee so less likely to get carded for complaining about a decision too.
