Welcome to today’s daily kōrero!

Anyone can make the thread, first in first served. If you are here on a day and there’s no daily thread, feel free to create it!

Anyway, it’s just a chance to talk about your day, what you have planned, what you have done, etc.

So, how’s it going?

So close to Christmas! I think I have all the presents organised, just need to wrap them. Then plan what food we will bring.

Hah, we basically posted almost the same thing at almost the same time! :)

Haha, great minds think alike! Or maybe it's just to be expected a week out from Christmas 🙂

So I bought a magnetic knife block on a whim and when I opened it, it needs to be screwed into the wall. The wall is tile that I don't want to damage, I was planning on using 3m strips but it turns out the thing is plastic with a hollow back.

Suggestions? I was thinking of maybe gluing a block of wood in the back to then attach the 3M strips to?

Should I just return it? 😄

I reckon return. Ours is screwed to the wall and the magnets are quite strong, there's a bit of force to remove a knife. Don't know if I would trust 3M strips on tiles to hold up a bunch of knives 😅

I was gonna put on like 5 of the strips... ok ok I guess I'll return it. It was an impulse buy, I didn't exactly think it through.

I'd say it's fine if you were placing them on there permanently, but pulling the knives off and on repeatedly seems like it would eventually weaken them.

Yeah, I didn't really think about how you'd be pulling on it all the time. You've convinced me not to do it 😆

Finally got my main Christmas shopping done! I now have a solid strategy on what to get my nibblings in the future, so feeling pretty stoked that I don't have to worry about future presents. :)

[-] eagleeyedtiger@lemmy.nz 2 points 10 months ago

Like ALL future presents?? How does that work? Mine changes what she wants every month or so

The answer is: Pokémon! I've decided I'm gonna be their pokémon uncle - whether they like it or not. :P

I've got them the starter plushies this time. Plan is to progressively go thru the pokedex every time I visit. There's enough pokémon to last a lifetime!

Like those squishmallow things? I had a niece asking for those, but they have so many already, I didn't know which ones they owned and didn't want to get them a duplicate.

I don't get the appeal of them at all either!

Give them what every kid wants, at almost any age: cash!

[-] eagleeyedtiger@lemmy.nz 2 points 10 months ago

That's my preferred gift as well - and I used to be a kid too!

So I guess you're right!

Two more work days to get through! Motivation is non-existent at this point. Hopefully the next couple of days are cruisey.

[-] ColonialSpore@lemmy.nz 2 points 10 months ago

Oh I feel this! But it's never "cruisey" for me.
Early month end shenanigans, rush rush,... not fun.
