At the moment, there doesn't seem to be a way of knowing whether you have any messages or replies in your inbox without manually checking it yourself.

I believe this is already being worked on! Definitely will make a big difference when it's implemented.

YUP!

I suspect this might be a bit of a Lemmy problem though, not strictly Thunder. Maybe I'm the only one but the notification icon doesn't work for me very well on web...

I'm not sure, because I used Jerboa before and that always showed the number of unread messages in the inbox.
