No shit, someone just pulled that number out of their ass because it sounded good. Regardless of how much bullshit and nonsense this is, I would rather have a functional government keep the money and use it effectively than whatever the fuck this administration is currently doing.

Reliability is paramount to me lol

There’s a YouTube channel called “City Prepping” that has a lot of good content on the subject. Climate Change will not care about politics when it burns/ floods/ blows down our homes, everyone should be a minimum of two week ready, if possible. 72 hour ready is a necessity at this point with how unstable things have become with infrastructure and supply chains.

I was about to suggest ready.gov for the US, but it appears to have already been compromised

The call is coming from inside the house, they don’t need to spy anymore

There’s not even a good excuse for this lmao

Get this clickbait nonsense off of here

This event has already exceeded my expectations and we’re just getting started

[–] 96ToyotaCamry@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

This is not “normal” weather, although I would argue it should be considered our “new normal”

This is the type of shit we need right now. You give an inch and they will take a mile, don’t let them.

We’re already absolutely fucked here in the US, no need to waste any effort with further meddling at this point. The cure for this, globally, is that everyone needs to log off and touch grass. Obviously it’s much more nuanced than that, but I hope that makes sense. I deleted most of my social media and it has only had a positive impact on my well being.

As we get closer to this coming to fruition, forecast confidence is increasing that this will be a significant event. I have linked the latest forecast from the storm prediction center, but I also recommend using local sources as well if available. If you live in Michigan, “Michigan Storm Chasers” are on Facebook and YouTube, they’re providing the best statewide forecasts currently with easy to digest information and no senseless hype. Nationally, I’ve found Max Velocity to be a decent source on YouTube. NOAA and NWS are currently strained to the max, so being weather aware is paramount at a time like this.
