Exploding Heads have between 40-60 active users, you probably noticed two posters you find disagreeable.

Have you considered blocking the users or communities you find offensive?

Sky News Australia host Sharri Markson discusses major revelations on the origins of COVID-19 and what happened inside the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

Overseas independent media outlets Public and Racket have revealed the names of the three scientists who first fell sick with COVID-19 – Ben Hu, Yu Ping and Yan Zhu.

“This is fascinating and as close as we've come to explosive information about how this pandemic started,” Ms Markson said.

Well, how about this:

You're dealing with people that left reddit because the moderation wasn't strong enough. By default, "regular stuff" isn't filtered enough for them. So when you people come here with your regular stuff and they don't have the manpower to filter through it, they decided to shut the gates. For now.

To be honest, I'm glad we're on a platform where the default is "I don't want to hear that so I'll ignore you" instead of "I don't want to hear that so I'll try to silence you".

I have no reason to believe either of the lead devs are employed by the Chinese.

They're very outspoken communist sympathizers and run their own instance with their own rules. I don't find that suspicious at all. Should I assume conservative instances are run by the US deep state ayy LMAO

If they came out of nowhere with a pre-packaged, all finished closed-source product I'd be worried.

A very respectable stance that I believe will let communities flourish. Not just your community.

It can be interpreted as Marxism-Leninism, which I'm pretty sure both Lemmy and Lemmygrad have stated is the intention.

Also they were dirt cheap/free when the first Lemmy instances were launched. 😁

I find it so wonderful I’ve come back for the first time since last year. It’s rekindled my belief in Lemmy as a viable platform in the fediverse and I’m even considering reactivating my lemmy instance.

Users can block whole communities just like blocking individuals, I hope people will consider doing that before advocating complete defederation if possible.

Disclosure, sh.itjust.works isn't my home server but we're obviously federated.

I don’t see a reason to hope for it.

I do. I find their business practice to be unwanted, I want less companies to treat their users like that. Having companies that behaves like reddit go under will make other companies not behave like that. And if it doesn't, we'll run out of companies that behaves like reddit because they've all crashed and burned.

It's not revenge. It's not hate. It's me hoping there will less of what I consider bad in the world. If anything, it's love towards the future me and you.

And sure things are allowed to change and end, but it's still a tragedy when something beautiful is drained of it's lifeblood because of greed. Like what slowly happened to reddit over close to a decade.

As someone who was on Lemmy very early on but left due to the toxicity of the core community, I find it so wonderful I've come back for the first time since last year. It's rekindled my belief in Lemmy as a viable platform in the fediverse and I'm even considering reactivating my lemmy instance.

The only thing I'm afraid of is the newcomers being influenced by certain established instances and their anti-social and politically fundamentalist way as that would ruin this unique chance for Lemmy to grow.

My hope isn’t that Reddit will fall, it’s that alternatives (like Lemmy) will rise

Why not both?

Different perspectives, I estimate reddit have realised that they can do literally whatever they want - And most users don't care. Compare the engagement in the community regarding this matter by number of reddit users.

And for those who do care INTENSELY, most of those users will be back in two to three days!

At this point it seems akin to the sort of psychological dependence I've seen in abusive

My RISV-V server (I have removed all binary blobs and have no closed source code ofc) is airgapped inside a Faraday cage.

For security reasons I never turn it on.
