Not sarcasm! But now I can see how you might think that. I really do appreciate the content.
This is very cool.
I have printed a few functional things with my resin printer. Like some pieces I designed in Blender that I needed in order to make some minor repairs to stuff around the house. Was really fun using calipers to measure, come up with a design, and puzzle it all out.
It's much easier than modeling for games or animation, because you can make objects out of multiple overlapping simple shapes, and don't have to worry about mesh geometry. The slicer will just convert the layers into 2d slices.
And I've made some custom gifts, too. Put people's names on things, stuff like that.
But 99% of my prints are miniatures for tabletop gaming.
It was the sectional's fault, she was wearing Naugahyde, she clearly wanted it, I'm not weird you're weird.
Almost zero. Quit Facebook several years ago. Never used Twitter or X. Once in a blue moon I check LinkedIn or Nextdoor. I do a lot of texting and group texting with my friends. It's way more fun. A few old friends still prefer email threads, which I'm fine with, too.
You've been posting some great stuff in here.
Lina Khan is a champion of the people. She's one of a zillion reasons voting matters.
The future is HotBot, baby!
Google search so bad now, people are trying Archie again. Funny/sad!
Lemmy's barriers to entry are a problem, there's no getting around that. Personally I don't think they are that bad and requiring a bit of effort / research is, oddly, in some ways, kind of a good thing....? The people who want to be here have put in at least a little work. But you make a very valid point. It needs to be easier and more intuitive. I would also point out that reddit sucks for new users, too. People are constantly complaining on there about how hard it is to get a new account going because of prerequisite karma, wildly varying sub rules, etc.
Used it all the time in the early 90s. Even though the tech was very primitive back then, I miss the academic spirit and open collaborative nature of it all. Corporate greed has really wrecked the open web.
It's not owned by a greedy soulless corporation with a pigboy in control. There's more assholes on here (the AKSHUALLY is quite strong) but there's less hivemind.
It is messy. Requires careful handling and procedures. Stinky, too. Best to do it in a garage or shed. Some people build ventilation systems and tent it.
