Be it manga, manwha or manhua, what are some good villainess stories.

Im specifically looking for things that try to innovate in some aspect or that has a quirk that really makes it stand out to you, those that aren't your run of the mill "revenge, gets the prince, uses knowledge to humiliate everyone" kind of cliche story.

But that doesn't really matter, just recommend whatever story you have enjoyed in the genre if you like, even share your opinions on the genre.

Let's talk about villainesses!

Be the change you want to see in the world!

Also sub to smaller and more contrnt specific instances? Personally I have been having fun interacting with communities from my hobbies (most specifically manga) and at the end of the day that's what matters most.

Since this community takes heavy inspiration on what the r/manga sub was doing, why not take one of the best parts?

In case anyone is wondering what that is, I'm referring to this kind of threat: https://www.reddit.com/r/manga/comments/14p1m5o/what_manga_have_you_read_this_week_and_what_do/

Also I did do one of this 3 days ago in case someone doesn't want to see the reddit, although reddit paints a better example of what I wish it was.

I feel the community would greatly benefit if the mods were the ones that did the post and it was a pinned message that changed every week.

Reasoning is that unless pinned, the post just looses relevancy quick, a lot of people will miss it and also and very importantly, people that come see if they want to join can look at a post where people interact through an entire week and were some interesting conversations and suggestions are born instead of only seeing chapter releases that gather 1 or 2 comments at most since not everyone is keeping up with this many series (especially considering how small the community is right now)

Just in case, I'm not criticizing chapter release discussion, I think they are great as they keep the community with constant new content. It's just that with the small current size of this community, most of them are not interacted with and people unfamiliar to what these posts try to accomplish will not really get the best impression of the community if every post is almost empty (case in point, the guy like 5 or 6 days ago asking what the purpose of the community is), it's just the curse that comes with small size for this kind of format.

I keep asking but haven't gotten an answer, why must instances that block meta also block those that federate with META? Wouldn't blocking META be enough, as you wouldn't see their posta, nor users, nor comments in any way after blovking the domain?

Is this punitive or is yhere a reason I'm mising?

Nowadays D-frag is one of my favorite comedy manga, but when I tried reading it for the first time it didn't feel that funny or good, in fact I dropped it yhree times before reading it up to catching up, since theen I have re read this many times.

I think it is because of this "retort based comedy" that at the time of my first reading was kind of unfamiliar to me. A protagonist playing straightman and highlighting all the time how weird the antics of the side characters where wasn't that appealing.

Fast forward a few years later and I now find it hilarious l don't know it it's an acquired taste from reading more manga or just growing up.

So I'm curious for those that have read it or those that have tried, whate are your opinions on D-Frag?

[-] Elkaki123@vlemmy.net 16 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Why? If you have blocked meta shouldn't you already be exempt from seeing comments and posts by their users on other instances? Why is this punitive approach needed

Edit: (Alongside downvoting, an explanation might be better suited to change people's minds, I just eant to know the advantage of this approach since you are excluding yourself from many users and you would have already blocked meta in this scenario)

POV: you see someone who doesn't believe what Andrew Tate has said himself but is a fan

What is that one series, that was either canceled or forced to have a rushed ending, that had the potential to be great but was cut too short to see it and you keep wondering, years later, how good it would have been had the author been able to continue?

Disco Elysium at 75% off is a steal!

Also, Kingdom Come Deliverance, 75% off and rven cheaper than Disco Elysium. This one is hands down one of the best modern rpg games I have played, especially because you can play without the minimap relying on directions given by NPCs, it is so inmersive and it has a plethora of interesting mechanics and an amazingly beautiful world.

For anyone interested, they explained the reasoning behind this particular defederation here:

https://docs.beehaw.org/docs/important-questions-decisions-and-reflections/on-defederation/

At the end of the day beehaw wants to be tightly moderated and it's kind of imposible to properly moderate huge amounts of users at the moment with their tools so they decided to ban big instances that don't require any verification to join

I'm asking for private notes, that only you as a user can see.

Just to exemplify, a similar feature is over at mastodon, where you click on profile and you see an "add note" message, another implementation is over at discord.

It is a really useful feature when needing to remember certain users, like when you are looking at why you blocked someone or for when you interact with certain recurring users.

Is there an extension or feature for this, if not, has it been requested on GitHub, or am I restricted to having to keep a manual list myself?

[-] Elkaki123@vlemmy.net 18 points 1 year ago

You realize the downvotes came from your comments and not the post itself right?

You made the shittiest attack helicopter joke I've seen in a while

Also it literally goes against this community rules and the instance as a whole, wonder why you are still allowed to post.

Go join truth social or some other alt right fork instead of waisting everyone's time

Anime subs are flooded with pervs openly sexualizing children and calling for porn.

So... Pretty much the same as before July 1st /s

I know this is not a feature oficially on lemmy as of now (at least the github https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/2397?ref=privacy.thenexus.today the issue is still open)

What I'm asking is if there are any browser extensions or an app that will just automatically block any community you encounter from a particular instance.

Im kind of tired of seeing all the porn on all and blocking communities 1 by 1 but I don't want to turn off nsfw.

(Also as a side question, is this the community to ask lemmy related questions? I guess it will probably be oversaturated with this kind of post so I ask for future reference, I thought about asklemmy but that is more about open ended questions.)

Alternatively if you have never bought a volume, what is first on your wishlist to kickstart your collection?

I actually did, there was no reason to suspect bots would stop working.

Noticed there isn't a pinned message with this, which was my favorite part of the subreddit, so let's talk!

Anything goes, share your thoughts on what you read, treat it as a recommendation or just a log, tell people what you dropped or what you caught up to, just say whatever you feel like about what you've read this past week, there is no correct format.

Just say if something includes spoilers.

I dont know if this is bugged or there are actually no mods but !writingprompts@lemmy.ml shows 0 mods.

So I was wondering, can it have 0 mods? If so, what happens now does it get deleted in any way or given to someone in the meantime to moderate? Or are these instances mostly left alone to rot?

The fact we are seeing posts with almost 3k upvotes has me really impressed

[-] Elkaki123@vlemmy.net 19 points 1 year ago

This reminds me of an expression in Spanish

"Todo junto se escribe separado y separado se escribe todo junto"

Which I just discovered is the same on English lol :

"All together is written separately and separately is written all together"

[-] Elkaki123@vlemmy.net 16 points 1 year ago

I agree but with slight differences, I don't think it's only about power but more on the first thing, they have built communities for over a decade, to just leave is extremely difficult when you have poured this much work and time into the thing, it might be like an abusive relationship but they still love the places they've built.

That being said, some of mods have left big subs, but it's kind of difficult to get everyone on board.

Lastly I do think this is impactful, it literally strips one of the most "prestigious" and well recognized sub of all the functions that made it special, only doing the bare minimum to keep it alive

For those that dont want to look at the link:

"effective immediately, we plan to discontinue the following activities:

  1. Active solicitation of celebrities or high profile figures to do AMAs.

  2. Email and modmail coordination with celebrities and high profile figures and their PR teams to facilitate, educate, and operate AMAs. (We will still be available to answer questions about posting, though response time may vary).

  3. Running and maintaining a website for scheduling of AMAs with pre-verification and proof, as well as social media promotion.

  4. Maintaining a current up-to-date sidebar calendar of scheduled AMAs, with schedule reminders for users.

  5. Sister subreddits with categorized cross-posts for easy following.

  6. Moderator confidential verification for AMAs.

  7. Running various bots, including automatic flairing of live posts"

I feel this was Reddit biggest sub, and probably the most prestigious. Wonder what the effect will be on reddit overall and if reddit will replace the mods.

Thing is, I have the batman series from the 60s that I downloaded a long time ago. I deleted the torrent but I want to seed again because I remember it having like 1 or 2 people seeding and I have better internet nowadays, I have two questions on this:

  1. Is there a way to find the torrent directly from metadata on the files or some other way instead of having to search on sites until I find it?

  2. If I were to find a different upload of the same files, can I just verify the files I have and start uploading directly without having to download them first?
