I've only lived here in Austin for a year, but I find myself slipping into a routine. I end up going to the same few places for lunch or for weekend breakfast tacos. I'd like to mix it up a bit.

What are some of your favorite restaurants, bars, and venues in South/Central Austin?

Stardew Valley is on the list!

My partner’s not much of a gamer, so I worry table top simulator might not be accessible.

This is smart, we’ll try it out!

This is an open-ended question. I occasionally have facetime dates with my partner. What are some good activities we can do? They don't have to be fancy or romantic,

So far we've:

  • built lego sets at the same time
  • listened to music together
  • gone through quizzes on sporcle.com
  • tried to name all 50 us states in a google doc (lol)
  • Played this scattegories clone https://really.boring.website/
  • Watched a movie

I'm particularly interested in other games like scattegories that we can play together.

Thanks!

I always used Dakine bags. Lots of useful pockets and they look cool.

How do notifications currently work? Does your server poll lemmy.world ever x amount of time?

This one didn’t resonate with me. It sounds like he’s frustrated with someone in particular.

Fairy Circle (en.wikipedia.org)

Fairy circles are circular patches of land barren of plants, varying between 2 and 12 metres (7 and 39 ft) in diameter, often encircled by a ring of stimulated growth of grass. They occur in the arid grasslands of the Namib desert in western parts of Southern Africa, and in a part of the Pilbara in Western Australia. Studies have posited various hypotheses about their origins, but none have conclusively proven how they are formed. Theories include the activities of various types of termites, or the consequence of vegetation patterns that arise naturally from competition between grasses.

Relatedly, where’s the best place to request features or improvements?

Not very important to me. I’d rather see the most common flows/screens polished to perfection.
