One red pill mwahahahah, two red pills mwahahaha

If you're referring to Lemmy.world or Lemmy.ml, unfortunately it would seem so.

this could be tl;dr so the short of it is I believe in everyone's right to live as they want as long as they aren't hurting others, and on many of the other instances what defines hurting others get broader every day bordering on ridiculous.

I used to be on reddit, like wayyyy back. I left because of the increasingly "progressive" tone of most of the sub-reddits. Let me be 100% clear I am left of centre and an atheist, but I have long since learned the live and let live credo, which reddit seemed to be either forgetting or intentionally ignoring. I do not think that wanting a collective good is antithetical to allowing people to live as they want, because I came to the understanding that the "correct politics" of today is "problematic" tomorrow. After the Reddit rebellion of '23 I said it was only a matter of time before it happened to that cesspool of scum and villainy, (refering to the money grubbing management) and I heard about Lemmy. I thought great I'll check it out. What I found is more of the same "progressive" attitude. The obtuse nature on instances like Lemmy.world, their utter conviction that any ideas that contradict their own are bigotry, their ignorance that attitudes change with time, and their utter disbelief that their morals aren't universal and people in the future might regard their ideas as "problematic" made Exploding Heads all the more attractive. If you refuse to defend other peoples right to have an opinion, and actively believe in censoring others you aren't promoting the public good, you are promoting the interests of the powerful. I may disagree with some of opinions on here but I am self aware enough to realize I am not all knowing and that attitudes change with time, and I situationaly aware enough to realize that being exposed to opinions you don't agree with is the only way to expose and rectify my own biases.

I find it ironic that people like the one in your example preach acceptance, say like you shouldn't ostracise people who are different than you, calling people names is bad, and that kind of behaviour isnt acceptable in modern society, and finally that free speach isn't important when weighed against the "Harm" it could cause, and then come here and do exactly the opposite of everything I've just mentioned and do NOT see any issue with it. The lack of self awareness is astonishing.

The fact that you came here to say that is proof that you consider it likely that enough people will find it funny that it isnt fringe. If you were confident enough that the majority of people would regard this as hate you wouldn't have even bothered

I am glad to have found exploding heads! When I saw the comment about the defederation on Lemmy world (the first Lemmy Instance I signed up to) and the reason...and having seen a lot of the posting that goes on there, I knew it probably wasn't so cut and dried. I don't hold with bigotry but I think calling people names when their ideals don't align with your own is too easy and a sign of intellectual laziness. I think the more you listen to someone who has a different viewpoint the less you tend to categorise them as the other. But anyone I truly cannot stand I can just block...because I am an adult. I see a lot of "we need to have a safe and inclusive space" which is shorthand for "we cannot be exposed to ideals that do not exactly match our own" on a lot of instances and it find it a little disappointing. I saw one post from someone who was arguing for a social credit system because 1. it would protect a future utopian society 2. It was inevitable and so we needed to get the checks and balances in place now. I countered with You're arguing for a system that would inevitably be used against you in the future and would as systems do get around checks and balances. I dont think I swayed his opinion which I strongly disagree with, but I wouldnt recommend that instances defederate from the instance where this was posted. So in short thank you for keeping open discourse alive and treating people like adults and letting us decide for ourselves.

Oh dear...It seems that governments the world over are eager to sell their citizens date (health and otherwise) to the highest bidder. You can bet no matter what even though they say There are no circumstances in which Palantir – or any other supplier should it win – will have access to see individuals’ data,” That that is in the future plans.
