Oh hell yeah, just checked them out and I really fuck with it. Love the screams, very raw sounding, hopefully they do get bigger because I'd love to hear them live myself

So Better Lovers just released that EP last week, and I'm already seeing a bunch of shit about their first show as a group, so that's an obvious pick. There's also Thrown and Psycho-Killer, two groups that have a LOT of steam at the moment and can blow up with just the right release at just the right time.

Anybody else got any new bands they expect to start making waves?

It's not necessary, you could have a complete experience without it for sure. But I will say you feeling like that about season 3 doesn't surprise me at all, and it was a risk the team took that I personally loved but I can totally understand why people wouldn't like it.

I'll put it this way; the movie fills in the gaps that season 3 introduces, and there are story beats in the movie that I think only truly hit with the context of season 3. But if you didn't like 3 that's totally fine, tonally it's a mix of case 1 and case 3 of Sinners of the System, if you liked those two movies (not sure if they technically count as movies lol) you're probably gonna like the movie.

I could go further in depth but it will spoil things, just let me know and I can go more in depth :)

Not sure if anyone else was excited for this movie, but I caught up on the entire series in preparation for this movie and it was a great payoff for the work. I had asked last week what was necessary viewing for the movie, and now I know while you can get away with not watching anything past Sinners of the System, you're doing yourself a disservice if you don't finish the entire series prior to the film.

No spoilers, but despite it being a prequel to season 3 it answers a lot of questions and plot points from season 3 in a way that's best enjoyed already having these questions in mind. There are characters and thought experiments that, while important to the movie, I would not have cared nearly enough about had I not at been completely caught up.

So anyone on the fence but does enjoy Psycho Pass, high recommend, i thoroughly enjoyed it. And for anyone curious, still doesn't hit the highs of season 1 but it's been consistently close since Sinners of the System came out so I think it's something worth watching

Would you say men not feeling comfortable with women in the workplace or a bar is an argument not based in sexism?

[-] Grimezz@lemm.ee 5 points 1 year ago

I'm not saying other people shouldn't have a voice on this topic, but that discussion is a topic that is based in transphobia. If a woman feels uncomfortable sharing the bathroom with a trans woman, it's because she has a predisposition to fear and feel unsafe around trans women.

Contrast it with the past, where men used to feel uncomfortable with women in typically male dominated spaces. I remember seeing an old news video where a female reporter was sitting in a bar typically frequented by men. She asked them how that made them feel and all the men she asked made a point to mention they felt uncomfortable with her in the bar with them and they would rather her leave than share the bar with her.

This is the same argument you're presenting. It would seem ludicrous now as we've moved past that point (for the most part, it's not a 100% solved issue sadly), but at the time it was seen as a legitimate argument, as sexism was still rampant at the time and it was the norm for women to be excluded from male spaces.

There is nuance to your presented argument in that the space that's in question is a restroom, which is a more private and intimate space, but the nature of the argument is still based in transphobia and I think should be presented as such. It's the root of the issue and the aspect that needs to be addressed before any headway can be made on the topic

Cowboy Bebop

Samurai Champloo

Terror in Resonance

Beastars

Land of the Lusterous

Ghost in the Shell

Gundam

Big O

Berserk

Monster

Psycho Pass

Akira

Gunslinger Girls

Serial Experiments Lain

Haibane Renmei

Parasyte

Evangelion

Escaflowne

And many, many, MANY more. These are all things off the top of my head, and most of them are fairly different in genre. It's kind of a broad request, super deformed art styles are common in assorted anime but it's not like it's a defining feature of all anime, so most recommendations you'll get are gonna be pretty varied.

One thing in common is typically more mature anime are less likely to use it, so that might be the only common denominator between all the stuff I recommended

Currently reading Lolita, after I have book 3 of the Millennium series and book 3 of the expanse.

Also begrudgingly waiting for the next Crescent City and ACOTAR books, we have a mini book club at work and I've already invested too much time into these books to give up now lmao

Yeah I got up to act/part 3, but decided to take a break and now it's been a couple months. I started reading some other stuff so I just haven't had the time to go back. Really well written, just also really slow to pick up steam lol

Between Two Fires by Chris Buelhman

I had heard good things about the book, and while it is fantastic, its very dense and plodding and very depressing. There are chapters that leave me in awe but then there are 4 chapters of slow depression that bring the story to a grinding halt.

I only have a third of the book left so I might finish it later but man it's rough to read sometimes

I mean they're still fantasy books, just with a heavy lean towards romance. If your search criteria is just fantasy there's no way to know whether you want romance included or not. I get it, I'm tired of YA romance but once you know the authors to look for you can get related books that generally skew towards your preferred type of fantasy

So quick question for all the Psycho-Pass Stans out here, what is necessary viewing to get caught up for the new Providence movie?

I'm aware it's a prequel to Season 3, so I'm assuming I would be safe to not watch that season as necessary viewing, but how does Sinners of the System and First Inspector fit into the timeline?

I'm planning on watching it all anyways, just curious since the US release is in like 5 days so I want to try and get up to date on that shit lmao

The first manga I bought was volume 31 of Berserk, the scanlations I was using had a huge gap that started at that chapter so I said wtf why not.

My first full series purchase was the full box set of A Silent Voice, top 10 all time for me so I had to have it, sadly got ruined when my old home flooded but hey what can you do lol

E: Actually if you count issues of Shonen Jump as physicals then I'd been sporadically reading chapters off those when I was younger, they used to sell them in the local blockbuster I believe, though it was never consecutive so I couldn't actually follow any stories lmao. I vividly remember reading chapter #504 of Naruto and being very, VERY confused lmao

I wouldn't expect anything regarding FeMC. We'll probably see a DLC for The Answer, but FeMC would require them to rework the campaign to account for a "new" character and new scenarios to incorporate them in. I believe there are interviews from Atlus staff addressing this in regards to P5, I don't think their opinion has changed any sadly

Wayyyy too rushed, I'm very surprised to see this didn't get the standard 50 ep run that most AU gundam series get. Especially since it seemed to be doing quite well as far as I understood, anyone have any insight?
