Sure, maybe Sera was an unreliable narrator, and it's just the USS Relativity working in the background to correct things (even if they end up happening a few years off from when they should).

But maybe in the time scale of millennia, it more or less evens out.

Khan comes to power later in the timeline, but DIS and SNW seem a little more modern than they should? Some things are slowed down, and others are sped up.

That's the message they show when a sub doesn't have moderators (or possibly if the moderators have not been active).

Hey there JWBananas! If you agree with someone else's comment, please leave an upvote instead of commenting "THIS"! By upvoting instead, the original comment will be pushed to the top and be more visible to others, which is even better! Thanks! :)

As of this moment, the post has:

  • 87 points on beehaw.org
  • 55/38 on kbin.social
  • 61 points on midwest.social
  • 62 points on programming.dev

The real question is if downvotes on other instances federate back to Beehaw (i.e. did they only hide the button, or did they truly block them?)

[-] JWBananas@kbin.social 21 points 1 year ago

That last part though. The fact that identity isn't federated sucks.

Reddit didn’t immediately reply to a request for comment. According to Reddit spokesperson Tim Rathschmidt, “We’ll no longer comment on hearsay, unsubstantiated claims, or baseless accusations from The Verge. We’ll be in touch as corrections are needed.” In the absence of corrections, then, you can assume Reddit believes none are necessary.

Gold.

Would you like to hear an OpenSSL joke?

It's 64k letters long and you can repeat it back to me when I'm done.

It's "A".

For those keeping up at home, "encouraging the submission of sexually-explicit content in previously safe-for-work spaces" is now against the rules, since marking a subreddit NSFW is also against the rules.

But what it really boils down to is their system not requiring users to opt back into a subreddit after it switches to NSFW. It's an edge case. So they call it a rule violation instead.

If it were only about the ads, they would allow third party apps to show their ads via the API.

The statistical data that they collect from your usage is still extremely valuable. They're still fingerprinting you and tracking you around the site. They're still A/B testing you with suggested content.
