Oh, if Benchmade made this it'd be $600, for sure. Just look at the chuzpah they have for what they charge for the Necron if you need an example, and that doesn't even have a latch.

heh, figures. can trust in the butterfly to overcharge their wares

I have no idea what the universal fascination is with states and countries trying to ban ~~balisong~~ knives

tell me about it. my country even consider the classic sd as an offense. silly circus over here. there's some wording about "unless with proper reasoning" but good luck arguing with an LEO.

still though, I'm fascinated by balisongs. I should try and get any one somehow and just play in my home.

sweet, glad to know it generally works with linux. this is available in my part of the world. been shopping around for a personal for-work laptop since my company is stingy. And I plan to move on anyways.

The wonder of scaled sorting unearthed this post for me

I have a Nextool mini flagship, that not only have a main tool pliers and a nail file, it also has main tool scissors. Unfortunately the nail file is useless. Expected for the price

Another Chinese brand that I can think of is Roxon. They have a few mini plred based multitools. I think they have files. Though I fail to remember specific models

How about a sog powerpint if you don't want a double headed pliers and scissors multi tool. It has pliers as the main tool and a file

As a weird knife lover, thank you for covering this knife.

It is absolutely amazing yo see spyderco taking on this intricately and over engineered Janich design and put it to market. I love spyderco for that, despite them running sprint tuns of the same knives with different ingredients over and over. I guess that does fund for fun stuff like this

I've stared at your deploying gif for minutes and it still doesn't make sense to me. Probably would make more sense if I ever had a balisong to compare I assume.

I assume them going with washers for the pivot is an attempt to discourage and prolong the need to take the knife apart should it get too gunked up. Having free ball bearing is just such a spyderco move. looks at smock additional free bearing secondary lock

Would love to get this in my country but it being a balisong, and kind of gravity knife would make it ultra illegal lol

If I ever can get one this probably would be a safe queen or home cardboard muncher

I have to wonder though what would the price be if this is made in their Colorado plant. Just musing because the other USA insect brand would've charge double this for less intricate knife.

I think a dial of some sort needs more push. I like how Olight kind of restarted /popularize that trend with their flat flashlight. I know that years ago before jetbeam has a few but it didn't stick. But dial / rotary interface still isn't as prolific as I would like

At least I think it's more intuitive than having to remember fighting moves combos with just 1 button

When Gemini can find the information, they added flowery "social" bullshit before, in the middle and after the information I asked for wasting my time

Which laptop did you buy if you don't mind sharing?

Eh, I've had lukewarm luck that Firefox sync works for it over the years I flip flop around browsers and installs.

I'd rather do it right the first time than flipping a coin that it works this time.

Oh that's a shame. Well I guess I'll try Zen then

[–] JayGray91@piefed.social 2 points 2 days ago

I see. I'll try to keep an eye out on if there's any more like it. If it's just a rare hiccup like you said, hopefully I'll never see it again 🤞

Pre buy out, Opera was kind of moving towards what Proton is doing now.

Now Vivaldi sets to continue that trajectory.

It's weird that Mozilla didn't. If they do it now they'll look like copycats, and they've burnt a lot of supporters with their TOS boogaloo it would take a lot from them to claw back some of those supporters

I've encountered a bug, I think, where in piefed it didn't show the whole content of the post.

Here's the view:

1. From OP's home instance:

2. From piefed:

P.S.: Piefed did show the full image very well. Good job there. The issue is all the other part of the post not showing.

Here's the post:

I'm sorry to those that seen this from asklemmy comm. Didn't read the rules. Reposting here.

Both are Windows machines. I know, don't need to preach about it.

I like how I set up the Firefox install on my PC and getting around to using it again for work because of multi account containers. Did the testing on my personal PC in case some things break with the hardening I chose for my threat model.

I just don't want to repeat the steps again, even if I already know what worked for me.

I found online that I could just copy the Firefox profile folder. Is that just it?

If it's the copy profile way, is the profile from a base Firefox compatible for other forks? If it's not the profile copying way, is the other ways compatible moving from base firefox to its forks?

TIA
