It's an interesting one to me for two reasons.

\1. Israels allies are culturally and ideologically opposed to what Israel has been doing in the region since WW2. It is imperialistic, subjugating and what the west has been trying to move away from in the later half of the 20th century. \2. After the second world war Europe has been very cautious of any nation displaying imperialist intent.
