Good grief. Everyone talks like Trudeau is lacking, and he might be, but has anyone considered that it’s a MINORITY government right now. You can’t just “ram shit through”, you have to work with others and play nice.

I fucking LOVE this situation right now.

A. It’s not the right-wing wackos in charge - don’t get me started. B. Trudeau has resources and experienced support, old favours, blah blah C. But Trudeau is held in check by, mostly, by the NDP(who I view as the political ’conscience’ of Canada). D. NDP are the real kingmakers - anything doesn’t pass muster? Nope! E. This forces EVERYONE to play and work together.

Isn’t that what this country is about?

Or is it about, “MY turn to drive!”? There’s no absolute power, right now and that’s a good thing.

Who gives a shit if a turd is, technically, “in charge”? The bus is driving like it’s supposed to.

Did he steal a cookie? They ALL do!

I’d be very curious how they are going to try and fuck over Firefox, or similar browsers.

It’s not “just business “, it’s personal. It’s all personal, Mike. You know who I learned that from? Your Father, the Godfather.

This is the ‘slow walk’ to private (read:profitable) health care in Canada.

All these business interests pushing the governments to ‘let it ride, until it breaks’.

Then they can swoop in, take over, and CASH IN BAYBY!

Money, favours, and stock options speak volumes.

Honest answer?

If you’ve lived through Canadian HC for a few decades, you’ll notice a few things:

  1. It’s no where near as good as it was in the past.

  2. It’s broken now after Covid and the apathetic response to the stress upon the system.

  3. The conservative governments (mostly provincial) are purposely not putting monies where needed (eg more staff), and underfunding everything in it so the system breaks. This way, their associates can swoop in and take over with “more efficient” and faster HC services - and they can then begin raking in the enormous profit margins seen in the private US system (many of whom are their ‘associates’).

Canadians in most provinces are currently being slow-walked into private, for profit HC.

If you don’t see this. You’re truly blinded by your comforting illusions of what Canada is now, compared to 20-30 years ago. Shit, even 10.

Two-tiered HC coning right up!

Conservative government is trying to break health care.

This allows their cronies to set up private health care for crazy profits.

You know? The American model?

Put that in the head of all the ‘players’.

Canada is big enough that, as bad as it is right now, most of us are still just doing our regular <cough, cough> lives. Until autumn comes around and the fires abate.

Or, specifically, “we’re steadfastly continuing to feed the global machine that greases the wheels of climate change….”

[-] MyDogLovesMe@sh.itjust.works 96 points 1 year ago

Canadian here. This is, for many provinces the worst year ever recorded for forest fires. One fire is larger than our smallest province. It’s very bad. Not sure there is a “normal” though as each year can be highly variable, and different measures for what is normal. Gonna get worse too as we move into the coming few years, imo.

Why do I need a camera in the dash , focused on the driver, Toyota? (Eyes off the road for 5secs results in audio reminder to watch the road)

How long until Insurance or LE can access it?

Yaaaa, extra insurance (or none) for you! “You look away from the road too often, and you cry in your car on the way home from work. Both say you are a risk. “. Now insert your LE scenario….

Fuck everything to do with this shit!
