A shack/fort my friends and I built in the field behind our neighbour's house. Wasn't half bad for a bunch of 10-12 year-olds, a lot of fun times.

English, French - and just enough Klingon to offend someone.

I'm a proud Canadian, but I'd be even more proud if we had the electoral reform he explicitly promised in his first campaign. He accomplished some good things, but fuck we coulda used that.

It really is fantastic - and there's fortunately lots of great non-alcoholic beers out there of all types now, and most bars and restaurants have at least one. Heck, a brewery near where we live even had a non-alcoholic beer and cider fest last summer. It's great to still enjoy a drink with friends and notbe stuck drinking pop or soda water.

Why the split from .world?

The same reason that there's a Lemmy.ca in the first place, i.e. it's a community managed by Canadians, geared to Canadians. This is a resource for Canadians struggling with alcohol/quitting, although of course just like Lemmy.ca, everyone is welcome, from anywhere. Having this community here means that people who choose to spend their time on Lemmy in Lemmy.ca have a place to go to right here. Cheers!

Absolutely correct, but Mango Mussolini and his followers were still screaming about it.

Just wanted to mention how glad I am that Guinness 0% exists. One of the things I missed most when I decided to quit drinking was a cold pint of Guinness, especially when I'm barbecuing on the deck. Guinness 0% is every bit as tasty as the original - between that and my local brewery's excellent 0% Vienna lager, sober life is good :-). I will not drink with you today!

Despite the MAGAts best efforts, the thing they hate most - progress.

I'm pretty sure Austria said the same thing back in the 30s. The current US government is very much a threat to our sovereignty and should be treated accordingly.

Excellent, hope the other provinces all follow suit.

No sane person should want anything to do with the US and their products right now. They're a rogue nation, teetering on the brink of fascism and a threat to us all.

Welcome to all who stop by. Like it says, this is a safe, supportive community for folks who are trying to quit or control their drinking, for any reason. We all have our own reasons for deciding to put down the bottle, and we're all on this trip together, so why not help each other out? Please feel free to share your experiences, to help other posters, and to ask for help yourself.

America is so deeply fucked, and 70-something million of them are too brainwashed to know it yet.

Oh hell yeah - the best kind of schadenfreude.
