Today's game is Ocarina of Time. I finished my 10th something playthrough today and even fought Ganondorf off with a bottle. I know i already chose a picture of the Master Sword for a screenshot, but this really feels like an appropriate screenshot to end off on for one of my favorite games of all time.

I also considered this for the the screenshot but ended up going with the Master Sword. It just looks far better. It did give me this amusing photo of Zelda though:

During the tower escape i stopped to take a picture Ganondorf's corpse. It was another one i was considering, but i can imagine how humorous the conversation is as Link is telling Zelda to hold up so he can take a selfie with the corpse.

Of course, i couldn't talk about the boss fight without mentioning the epic final battle. It taking away the master sword and leaving you to fend without it, only to get it back and slay Ganon with it is an epic scene. It was amazing dodging his attacks with the Z Targeting and rolling under his legs to get his tail. It's a simple and basic fight, but an amazing example of where i feel like this game shines. Honestly, i think it's a contender for a good core Zelda game.

What i mean by that is it's what i'd recommend to someone who's never played Zelda but wants to give it a try. Is it a little rough graphically? Yes. But It covers all it's base's amazingly and i feel it's amazingly accessible to newcomers. The story is basic but epic, it's not too long and doesn't have too many Gimmicks, and i feel like the characters are so damn lovable. I feel like from there people can branch out and find their Zelda game (or stick with OoT if that's there favorite, like with me).

Anyways, i'd like to end it off by showing the Dorky animation for Zelda as she follows you to escape. It was funny, but what wasn't funny was her standing there watching Link get humped by a Redead right at the Exit. Thanks for nothing Zelda.

The delivery of that line sticks in my head for some reason. Absolutely no clue why but it will pop in my head every once and a while

Today's game is Sea of Thieves. We hopped on to do a Tall Tale today and settled for the Pirates Life one (it's the last one we haven't done and we've been putting it off for ages). We've technically done this one before, but never finished it and we had a new person on, so we started it up all over again to do it through with them from the beginning.

It's cool that the levels are a recreation of the ride, because it lets me experience it without going to Disney Land (because 1) not a fan of disney right now 2) even if i wanted too i am not made of that kind of money).

Moving on from me talking about companies though. We spent a good while just dicking around on the ocean (our favorite. At this point we should just buy a real galleon and sail out to sea). For a good bit i neglect my captain duties and just danced on the Mast. It was fun until i turn around and they crashed my boat into a rock. Just kicking back in this game is a lot of fun, especially when you have a group you just vibe with. It's pretty and it's fun to just mess around and see where the wind takes you.

For another while we just followed eachother around pointing at eachother while playing instruments. It got really humorous for some reason too us. This photo i took is my favorite out of all of them.

We even got a perfect parking job. This is rare for us as we usually just crash head on into a rock or a dock or some other object and patch the holes. This though? Perfect. Pulled up perfectly parallel and sold everything. Made a good chunk of cash. We're closer to our goal of a brig too to add to our fleet (currently we have 3 ships). We were going too have one of our friends buy a sloop to add to the fleet, but they ended up spending all their money on Hats instead, which honestly, i can respect. We all need a good hat every once and a while.

Speaking of them, i think it's fitting to end off with a picture of them chilling in my captains chair after stealing it (and flaunting their new hat). Don't appreciate my chair being stolen, but love the hat so i let them have it and just took my bed instead. Captain can work from his bed anyways.

It is SoH! I forgot what the texture pack is but it’s just an upscale of the 3DS textures (it’s the version I grew up on so I have nostalgia for it)

[–] MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

I played the 3DS Remaster when I first played OoT. I loved it. I have it set up so I might. I’m not sure though because Majora’s Mask is a very situational game for me

Today's game is Ocarina of Time. I cleared the last of the Temples today and opened up Ganon's Castle after kicking Bongo Bongo's ass (along with a discovery that i can use Arrows to stun him). I'm excited and sad to be finishing this game. It's one of those games that every time i beat it i'm left wanting more. Very few games i can see leave that impact on me.

Backpedalling to Ganon's Castle though, The cutscene for the rainbow bridge is another perfect example of why i love this game. It leverages the Soundtrack and the Camera Angles to create a really epic cutscene. I feel like the Journey too is what helps the moment. While the cutscene was playing i couldn't help but think of the Kokiri Forest at the beginning and go "Wow, Link really has come this far". It's just a really good Hero's tale imo.

While i was doing the Shadow temple i backed up a bit to try and get a good screenshot of the boat, only to discover that the back half isn't flat. I fell straight off the back and accidentally killed poor link. I then did it again trying to figure out what happened. I nearly died on the ship a third time because i didn't realize it was about to sink but luckily i just barely made the jump and watched the Stalfos plummet to it's death.

I ran into a door with a suspiciously Elder Scrolls Imperial shaped crest on it. Ironically, my friend was in VC with me playing through the Bottom of The Well at the same time and came to a door with the same texture at the same time as me. We both stopped and went "Dude, is that the Skyrim Logo?" to eachother.

I of course beat another Dead Hand too, and he died as he always does. With his freaky ass Jaw unhinged like a snake. It was a lot easier this time as i had a longer range with the Master Sword. My spin attack covered a lot more area and took him out way faster.

I ended off tonight in Ganon's Castle. I'm not quite ready to say goodbye again too Ocarina of Time tonight (and it's late) so i plan to finish it tomorrow hopefully. maybe the next Zelda game i do will be me finally finishing Twilight Princess (i have started and stopped the game so many times now)

It took me a while to figure out too lol. I never stopped to consider it until i was messing around with the bow and arrow and thought "i wonder if i can shoot them"

Today's game is Ocarina of Time. Figured for the screenshot i'd go with is one of this statue, which just today i found out was known for it's chest being hookshotable? It's an iconic set piece in my mind, still, can't say i knew it was famous for that lol. I knocked out the Gerudo fortress and the child half of the spirit temple today in total so all in all i made pretty good progress.

I found out you could stun the Gerudo Guard which is nice. I've always snuck past them but being able to knock them out with a bow and stroll past makes my life way easier. Especially because their detection seems to have such BS range compared too the Hyrule castle Guards.

During the cutscene where you learn the Warp Song, Kaepora Gaebora is usually scene, but due to playing with 16:9 forced, i got this humorous screenshot of their being two (terrifying, i know). You can see his foot there on the stone and the usual one flying away as well.

I ended for the night in this mirror room after getting attacked by a Floormaster and deciding i was done for the night. I stopped to get a screenshot and got pounced into a corner basically before i could get the lense out. Teaches me for not checking first lol. All in good fun though because i was needing a point to get off anyways as it was late (and i wasted an embarrassing amount of time trying to solve an earlier puzzle with a switch on the ceiling)

Man, Masquerade was my go to repacker when i was younger. After the website vanished i couldn't find them and assumed they quit. Glad to see they're still around!

Today's game is Sea of Thieves. Me and my friends hopped on and just messed around for about 50ish minutes (which is honestly one of the best ways to enjoy this game imo). When we spawned in we were greeted by a wonderful sunrise so it seemed like a good way to start off our session. I got this screenshot of the port right as we were leaving.

We ended up deciding to go do a Sea Fortress for today because they're good money and there was one nearby we saw. It was an impulsive decision but the sea forts are always fun so we had a good time. They're fun to tackle with friends and honestly are a good showcase of the games combat, albeit they're a lot of work to loot.

While unloading chests from the fort i annoyingly got a chest stuck on a ledge none of us could reach. We spent a good 10 minutes trying to get it before one of my friends got the idea to use the Harpoon to grab the thing. It's embarrassing it took us that long but i'm just glad to have grabbed it.

The trip back was rather uneventful (as was most of today) though it was a very cozy drive home which i enjoyed. we even got to watch the sunset as we sailed home. We sold all our stuff to the sovereigns and i let my best friend drive, which he promptly crashed into some rocks to show i can't trust to let him drive my expensive galleon. Still, we got the ship patched up and we sold all our stuff to the sovereigns for around 30k gold. A rather nice haul and a good step to my goal for a Brig (i only need around 50k more).

Today's game is Ocarina of Time. After getting the Biggoron sword last time, I decided to tackle the fire temple today. I cleared it all in one fell swoop. Going into it, i don't know why but it's occurring to me that this is the first time i'm hearing the original version of the Fire Temple theme. I don't know if last time i play SoH i somehow played a version of the game without the old theme or if i played it with the sound off, but this is the first time i'm hearing that chanting.

I ran into my first Like Like, which, i hate these guys. I've hated them with a burning passion ever since i played Majora's Mask for the first time and they didn't drop my stuff back for some reason. That one took my shield and tunic but luckily i was able to get them back after killing it.

There was an elevator that i discovered had a lava texture on the underside i don't usually see. I usually only pass through this room once so seeing it was something new.

To end of tonight's post, i wanted to show off the boss room. For an overglorified game of Whack a Mole, the game does an awesome job of making it feel epic. I was able to clear the boss fight fast too using the Biggoron sword to deal extra damage. It's really come in handy, especially when i forget to use the shield. I'm definitely switching back to the master sword though because it paired with the shield is just a badass combo.

Today’s game is Minecraft PS3 Edition. We had a friend visiting us today that we usually don’t get to hang out with. We did Splitscreen (I got most of the screenshots when they stepped away for a second and I was playing alone.) and started a new world (for like the 8th time). I built this little cabin to live in while they all went off on their own. I installed cute little windows and got a bed the first day (though it didn’t do much good because I was the only one who had a bed)

The cabin does look a little rough on the outside, but I ran out of time to do the outside. I want to do a trim though and clean up the sides.

I went mining for iron and found a sheep deep underground. I also got to get out with a decent 29 iron. I found some gold too but didn’t get a chance to collect it. I ended up bumping into one of my friends during this who had tunneled halfway across the map. I gave them some torches to light their way before heading back home.

That was where we ended off for the night. I had a screenshot we got together but everyone’s names were showing and my usual tools I use to censor names wasn’t accessible right now. Still it was fun to have us all in the same room for once to play it splitscreen.

Today's game is Sonic Mania. I wanted something quick and easy to jump into with tonight, and i picked this up on sale the other day. I grew up on Sonic 1-3, CD, and Knuckles so i have fond memories of the old 2D sonic (even though by the time i was born the genesis was far gone). I even put on the CRT shader! I didn't know much about Mania though and figured it was an original thing, and from what i can tell it mostly is, but the first zones of the first two levels are not.

I believe this game has also elected to fuck with me, because they included Chemical Plant zone which scares the fuck out of me. It's like specifically engineered too make me panic, especially with the section above with the moving platforms. I always struggle with it and it lives rent free in my head. Still like the level though, just fuck that specific part really.

The second parts of the levels are cool, like unique ideas. Chemical plant had these jelly things with syringes that were fun to do. It was fun to press down on it and learn what all the different jelly colors do.

Then there was the Mean Bean Machine minigame, which was awesome to see. I don't have much to say about it lol, i just thought it was cool to see them pay reference too it.

The boss for the 3 level was cool, it was a high speed chase where you had to hit certain rockets back. I lost it and took that as my cue to put the game down for the night, but it was a unique idea. This game seems to be doing a lot of unique boss ideas. It feels loyal to the original idea of the Genesis games but also a lot more unique because of the new hardware it can use. I'm enjoying it, though i probably will shelve it for now until i have another night where i just want something quick and easy to play.

Damn, maybe i should check out Cadence of Hyrule just to see Dead Hands

[–] MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

I love them and hate them at the same time

Today's game is some more Ocarina of Time. I dove into the bottom of the wall and cleared the Dead Hands boss fight. It's one of my favorite Mini-bosses. I really wish it would be brought back in some form. It would probably scare kids shitless though so maybe not. Still though, really fond memories of stumbling into this room and getting the shit scared out of me by it. The bottom of the wall still unsettles me to this day with it's freaky vibes.

Dead hands doesn't make it any better either because he dies with his jaw unhinged like some corpse snake. I'm like 90% sure he could swallow me whole if he wanted too.

I went ahead and used my time today to finish up some misc stuff before moving onto the main dungeon. Namely i got Epona and started on the Biggoron sword quest. I got all the way too the broken biggoron's sword before stopping. The race to get the mushroom all the way to the Potion shop was tense though because Epona wouldn't make a jump i thought she could. I ended up cutting it close though with like 20 seconds left.

I didn't entirely neglect the other dungeon though. I stopped Link while in Goron city to get the Fire tunic so i can do the dungeon when i finally get the Biggoron's Sword. Then it's off to the last 2 i need (Spirit and Shadow).

It’s fun! I believe full price is still 60$ but on discount it’s good fun with friends. I’ve suck a good amount of time into it

[–] MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

I do get that. I’m not big on the PvP personally, but it is part of the game so I’ll never shame anyone for liking it. Still, it sounds like there would be better ways to handle it then just switching servers

[–] MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

I’m not hog on the PvP either, especially when you get people who are so deep in the Meta that they’re employing advanced strategies. I’m not against the PvP, but I wish there was a way to just toggle it on or off while still being public. Because I do genuinely enjoy it from time to time.

I hope you have fun reinstalling. And thanks for enjoying it. I like seeing people try games i suggest. Makes me happy I convinced others to try new things (or pick up old ones in this case)

[–] MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Those are the best kinds of crewmates. Always brings a special kind of life to the crew

[–] MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago

Not especially. Some people have suggested a ‘best of’ post which I’m thinking about. I always have a certain handful of games that I’ve 100% over the course of the year which I think it might be fun to showcase my favorite screenshots from. I’ll probably draft this one ahead of time unlike the others. I might also do a normal screenshot as the “main” screenshot and then the body is the anniversary

Today's game is Sea of Thieves. For the first time ever me and some friends managed to get a full crew together and sailed my ship. We even managed to get our resident chef and arsonist to join us. He adds an extra challenge because the only thing he really does is stand at the stove and let food cook. He never really cycles it off so we have to make sure to regularly take food off the stove for him. He does help out though, like in the screenshot above where he fell asleep at the map. He was talking in his sleep about Gophers. I ended up laying down next to him and joining him for a little nap. He ended up sleeping through an entire battle with a megaladon.

The fight was over the ocean during the middle of the day, and i don't know if it's my fancy new gaming rig or the water got an update, but god is this gorgeous. The light was playing with the waves and it looked so good i almost forgot we were being attacked by a huge ass shark and down a man.

We did a sea fort, and while my friends were looting it, one of them tried bringing the boat up and got it stuck, and i went to go get it unstuck. I ended up getting it free quickly, and i got this lovely view of the sunset.

We ended off our night with this wonderful parking job done by my first mate, who was distracted after our chef threw a fire bomb at him and then stopped the anchor from descending. It all turned out okay though, because my ship was undamaged. Just stuck in a tight squeeze. It's future me's problem though.

Today's game is Barony. A friend gifted it to me since it's on sale (and both the DLCs). I ended up making a Succubus Rogue named Olive who I intended to be a very normal person. None of the usual Succubus tropes, complete subversion. Somehow my friend ended up taking the Tropes instead somehow as the Autmatron, and he named himself Sir. Bimbo Grunty after mashing the random button for a while.

I ended up collecting a ton of rocks. No reason why, but i guess Olive needs hobbies so she gets to collect rocks. She's also been carrying Cursed Bread through the floors too. I refuse to get rid of it because it's so amusing to me that someone took the time to bother to curse bread.

Poor Olive can't go near Humans because they'll attack on sight, so we send my friend in ahead of me to befriend them first. Olive is just a victim of unfair discrimination and stereotypes. Luckily she has a Polymorph spell to at least help her hide.

Enough about Olive though, and more on the Gameplay. It reminds me of Daggerfall kind of without the open world bit and more voxel arty. Oh, and also multiplayer. The stats are a bit easier than daggerfall (as evident by me not having to read a guide to understand how to play. Still love Daggerfall though.) Mechanics are a bit complicated though, and the controller controls definitely could use some work.

Still though, it's fun to play with my friend. Roguelikes like this arent really my jam but i had fun just messing around with my friend. We were talking about picking it up again tomorrow to play some more after some other stuff.

Today's game is Ocarina of Time. I went and got the Master Sword today and got this screenshot of it in it's pedestal. Getting it again reminded me so much of why Ocarina of Time is one of my favorite games. The scene where you get the Master Sword is so well executed that i can't help but love it. The Soundtrack is excellent and even though it's not really setup, it does an amazing job at making you feel that this sword, is important. And the scene where link pulls it out? Just as good. Though, i might be biased because growing up i was a huge fan of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. Seeing Link pull the Master Sword out though is amazing, and it couples well with how much i love his Adult Look. The center part is perfect and he rocks that green tunic so damn well. And pairing it with the Hylian Shield? Amazing. Perfect even. I could spend all day ranting about how much i love OoT Link's design if i had the time.

Coming back as an Adult, Sheik had their foot stuck in the pedestal while i was looking to get a screenshot of them chilling their. I've opted to believe they in fact are standing their not to stop Link from going back in time, but instead because their foot is stuck and they don't want Link to catch on. Because that would be embarrassing (i know i'd be embarrassed if i got my foot stuck in a rock of some holy importance).

My first stop was the Hookshot and the Sun's Song. While getting the later, i had the absolute privilege of seeing the redead's again. They're still just as creepy as the last time i saw them. Absolutely terrifying how they can just freeze you and leave you powerless. Even when they're stunned it spooks me a little bit to go near them.

I ended today with getting the Steel Boots and going to mess around in the Water Temple. I swear i remember being able to do it first instead of the Forest temple, but i must have remembered wrong because i ran into a spot i'm pretty sure i need the bow for since the hookshot wasn't working. I didn't feel like picking up the Forest Temple with the current time so i stepped away there. I'll probably pick it up tomorrow assuming my friends don't steal me away to play something else (or my attention doesn't get sidetracked like what seems to happen so often)
