I remember stories of people having to sneak radios because the communists banned western music. I don't know how much truth there was to that but I remember hearing about that all the time before I even knew what the GDR was.

I feel bad for that guy but like, I just can't imagine getting into a relationship with someone you disagree with so fundamentally, or getting into a relationship before you know someone that fundamentally.

I just can't stand how they were the mask of civility to make themselves feel better. Are they smart enough to know that they'll bleed fascist when it comes to that or are they just so propagandized?
