Expect it to get worse throughout this administration. Perhaps even beyond.

The market manipulation has been insane, and I barley see any backlash.

Wow, thanks man! Really inspiring stuff, I feel like you clarified a lot.

I don't need to change a lot of stuff on my system either, I mostly only mess with GUI stuff. So all of this sounds great. Awesome to know there's access to basically all packages too!

I don't really have any further questions. I'll probably just buy (yet another) live pen and boot Aurora from there to give it a proper go, haha. Thanks a lot. Comment saved for posterity.

How's aurora for a beginner?

I'm currently using Linux Mint and I'm happy, but the limitations are starting to show their bare teeth. I am planning to buy a tuxedo laptop soon and I fear with the new hardware Linux Mint will be a hindrance with their outdated packages, so I'm considering a fedora-based distro.

Any info you'd like to share? I'm not a developer, just a regular user looking to use Linux as a daily driver.

I sure hope so.I keep hearing good things about Sailfish OS and gave it a look on YouTube but tbh I'm quite disappointed with its current state.

Even worse is it requires using a Sony phone 😐 yeah Sony, that brand that everyone forgets produces phones because they are so garbage (and I say this as someone who's owned 3 of them).

It would probably be better if they joined the EU. They could stop being an endless drain on the EU economy by being a tax paradise stationed right in the middle.

The internet is full of coomers and this community is no exception.

Everytime some news comes out that kids are being protected from accessing porn websites or social media (soft porn), this community goes into a frenzy. Like clockwork.

Would be nice if the alternatives to US software weren't other US software. 3 of your proposals are still US based.

You could instead have included Xigxag: UK-based, no monthly fee audiobook library, and BookBeat, Sweden based.

If all you do is browser the web, the learning curve is a solid 0. The issue is when you want to install specific programs.

It's honestly probably for the best. Our devices should be tools for entertainment or helping with information. Not something that consumes our whole day.

Yes, this has been my point exactly! People are getting too lost in the sauce, not realising dropping their usage of 100% US products/services, to 50% US products/services, that's already a huge damage to their profits.

Bonus points if the other 50% can become EU consumption, because then you're also enriching our common block. Take your time, reduce your US dependency one app at a time, and you'll be surprised by how quickly you reach 60-80% EU products (where I'm at currently).

The more of us start trying EU only products, the more complete our availability of other products will become. Our own version of Visa/MasterCard is already in development, and hopefully we'll soon have some reliable alternatives to AWS and Azure too.

I think this makes sense for people who type only in English. If you type in other languages, this becomes way less relevant.

Not to mention the limitations in hardware.
