Hey, cool, you can just upload them to imgur, dropbox, google drive, or any other method you like and just provide me a link.

Full Twitter thread from Mayor Q:

Four years ago, advocates for our new American community; in homelessness outreach; and those seeking better services for all, approached me about a municipal ID program, helping our residents access checking/savings accounts, build businesses, and access better city services.

Today, we are ready to implement. With my sincerest thanks to WeDevelopment Credit Union, proudly founded as a Black-owned financial institution based at 30th and Prospect with city support, the new Fountain Card will be accessible to all Kansas Citians—removing barriers to all.

The Fountain Card can be used as ID and to access all city services, the library, transit, banking services, and more. This will be transformative for access to opportunity for everyone present in Kansas City. We look to grow even more places for card deployment. I am proud.

If anyone wants your work featured in the banner and/or the icon, feel free to comment here with your work.

It looks like Lemmy community icons display at 120x120 px and banners display at 736x230 px, but you can upload larger images than that. So whatever you submit, try to keep a 1:1 aspect ratio for the icon and 16:5 for the banner. If something ends up needing resized, I can deal with that part.

Original content from members of this community only, please. If you want credited in the sidebar, also drop your preferred @ in with your submission.

I'll give this thread a while to gather submissions before making any changes and if there are multiple submissions, I will use the most upvoted. If there are no submissions after a while, I may end up using some of my own photography.

I'm somewhat expecting another wave of growth here in a few days when the reddit api price changes take effect.

CentOS Stream will now be the sole repository for public RHEL-related source code releases

Hopefully this saves someone a trip to the curb because I always forget about holiday delays.

Also it's election day. Go make our city council better

UPS union workers voted to approve the right to strike Friday, putting the nation’s largest shipping company a step closer to a shutdown that could threaten the transportation of goods and commodities nationwide later this summer.

The Teamsters, the union representing 340,000 UPS employees, authorized a nationwide strike as of Aug. 1

The size and power of Teamsters is awe-inspiring. Solidarity forever.

Ohh interesting, I'll check on that too

I can't check right now because it seems like lemmy.ml is down right now (so maybe you're right about that), but I'm almost certain I only have english enabled. I'll re-try subscribing too. I did see there's a github issue that seems somewhat related to this https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy-ui/issues/1315

edit: tbh I might just end up staying here; I like it here. Only went on lemmy.ml because it was the first one I heard about.

New to midwest.social and lemmy in general and I had a question - I made some posts/comments from lemmy.ml but I noticed they weren't getting any interaction and they weren't actually showing up when I visited midwest.social directly. Additionally, when subscribing to a community, the button turned to "subscribe pending." Does this mean lemmy.ml is blocked here? I noticed there is a Blocked Instances list (https://midwest.social/instances) but lemmy.ml is listed under Linked Instances

Don’t forget about the upcoming election on June 20. Early voting is available now.

KC Tenants Power (the political sister organization of the KC Tenants tenant union) has done a lot of work and research to prepare this voter guide and imo, it’s the best progressive guide out there. This election has some of the best and most progressive candidates we’ve probably ever had.
