I've used it for translating reviews where the website's (or google's) translator does a terrible job. It seems to do a much better job (at least the reviews made a lot more sense and I got a lot more out of it).

But I absolutely agree, don't ever trust it to be completely accurate, especially with something important like contracts.

edit: grammar.

It would be interesting to see just how often Instagram sold its users' images to companies creating generative image models.

I see a lot of artists complaining that their work was used for training, but they also agreed to upload their photos to a company along with a royalty free license.

Another reason why content creators should be mirroring/uploading their videos to other platforms like Nebula/PeerTube/Odysee/etc.

And that's when scammers/disinformation campaigns can really take advantage of this system.

People are more likely to trust a "blue check mark", so finding every way to trick the system into either giving one, or making it look like they have one will become a high priority.

What are you talking about? AI is way too broad of a term to be talking in generics like this.

Are you talking about ML models that help with diagnosing patients, find new cures, find new planets, upscaling, motion prediction, self driving cars, image generation, object detection, text generation (ChatGPT), audio generation (music, voices), etc?

If you're talking about some "AI" that's meant to replace a system where we already have a simple solution (like a rain sensor) then, yeah, training a model on that is not worth the effort.

If you read the article, it's more of an "it depends" answer.

Most phones have safety mechanisms built in to them to protect from things like overcharging or overheating during fast charging. They will also default to a low power charging state if it doesn't detect the correct signal from the charger.

There is a very rare possibility that a charger may not be grounded correctly and that's why it's recommended to stick with big brands if you're going with a 3rd party charger.

A few more details here, but definitely read through the known issues if you decide to hop in:

We are intending to leave this build up for up to 24 hours but could come down sooner if blocking issues occur.
This test will have each Stanton shard split into many authoritative zones. We are planning to start the test out at 1 DGS with 100 players as a baseline and increase this to add more DGS with 500 and then as high as 1000 players

Edit: An easy way to download this is just to rename your "LIVE" folder to "TECH-PREVIEW".

Edit2: If they make it to 1000 players, this will be handled by 6 dedicated game servers (DGS) being meshed together into a shard.

The 500 player count will be achieved with 3 DGS

Global Chat will work, but will only show players in your DGS and not everyone in the shard: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/spectrum/community/SC/lobby/38230/message/55594666

I'm hoping they implement a way to assign crimestat to players that "flick" cargo at other players or ships in armistace zones.

We're getting closer. QA team is checking the build. Goal is 2x800 player meshed shards. Will update here shortly as we are hoping for sometime in the next 30 minutes if QA gives the greenlight!

Jail makes the most sense considering he returned with the same ticket in his pocket, but then again, since his family reported him missing you would have thought that they would have found out that he was in jail...

Better/additional info here: https://www.gamesradar.com/games/third-person-shooter/helldivers-2-community-manager-seemingly-fired-after-encouraging-negative-reviews-over-now-canceled-psn-mandate-i-knew-i-was-taking-a-risk-with-what-i-said/

Spitz:

"Generally it's not a good idea to tell people to refund and leave negative reviews when you're a community manager. TIL," Spitz said. "I appreciate all the support and I appreciate even more that everyone can play the game again without restrictions. I knew I was taking a risk with what I said about refunding and changing reviews. I stand by it. It was my job to represent the community, that's what I did."

They added: "I wanted to work for Arrowhead because they're my all-time favorite studio. I got that chance. I'm thankful for that opportunity. I'd happily continue working for them if I had the choice, but that isn't up to me or anyone else in here. I can walk away happy and I don't want anyone causing trouble on my behalf, especially not to people I still have a lot of care and respect for."

This definitely sounds like Sony wanted them out and Arrowhead wanted them to stay.

It's worth pointing out that once Pokémon Go players found out about OSM, we saw a massive increase in new users as well as those contributing to OSM so that the maps would better reflect the areas they played in.

https://www.researchgate.net/publication/334378297_How_an_augmented_reality_game_Pokemon_GO_affected_volunteer_contributions_to_OpenStreetMap

Unfortunately there are always a few that will try to game any system. In this case they're essentially vandalizing OSM for their own selfish reasons.

For those curious, the apps that sold your specific geolocation data were "Drunk Mode" and "Walk Against Humanity".

Edit: Although Wikipedia notes that X-Mode's SDK is in use in more than 400 apps. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/X-Mode_social#cite_note-13

This is a big win for privacy advocates as well:

"By securing a first-ever ban on the use and sale of sensitive location data, the FTC is continuing its critical work to protect Americans from intrusive data brokers and unchecked corporate surveillance,” said Khan.
