If our justice system is supposed to rehabilitate people instead of punish, then it seems like she received the correct sentence.

Did I say writing teams? Did I say actors? Did I say directors? No, I said the FINANCERS. The studio heads. The ones making the final calls about what gets made. Are there some people of color? Some women? Of course. But Executive directors and boards running studios are disproportionately populated by white men. These are the studios that keep saying "More Star Wars! All of it! More superheroes! More Transformers! Reboot reboot remake sequel reboot!"

They can have hits (like Andor) but they are making decisions that show how little they understand their audience. Black Panther was released in February, the month studios save movies that they don't care about for since it's finally done with Oscar season. It was one of the biggest cultural phenomenons at the time and completely by accident.

The irony of naming someone as the "woman shares name of man she believes was the one arrested for crime before the police released the name" before the police release the name is incredibly ridiculous.

Before the release of further details by the authorities, others including the X owner, Elon Musk, tweeted questions on social media.

Tweets only happen on Twitter, not any "social media", and if you're going to call it X then call them posts. Or Xits.

Having continuous pieces like this make a difference. Think of how many "Biden has to step aside!" pieces have been written in the past two weeks and how much a part of the political discussion that is. The more time the media takes up shouting from the rooftops that Trump is a threat to America, the more mainstream and central the discourse becomes.

Now congressional Republicans want the justice department to release the audio of the interview.

To be clear on this, they already have the transcripts. They just want to be able to chop up audio so they can put clips of it on TV.

There's a very wide range of options between "doing nothing" and "intentionally bombing civilians"

I do have issues with the fact modern Trek when they do things like put Elon Musk into dialogue alongside Zephrym Cochran and the Wright Brothers, or when they put the Jan6 riots into a video montage about the failures of humanity. It immediately dates the show in a way that 90s trek never felt dated, and it assumes it knows how people in the future will feel about today's events. Look at how well the Musk reference has aged.

I'm not saying you can't reference current social issues and make a statement on them, I'm just saying that if you make the smallest effort to use allegory, even if it's obvious, it will age better than literally showing modern footage.

Normally I would shy away from posting a video instead of a text article, but I think there is something worth watching here.
