I’m looking at switching to Linux for my Ally X! I use it docked for work during the day, so I need a robust desktop experience.

I stream games from my old desktop using Sunshine / Moonlight - since I stream games unless traveling (and when traveling I already pick from a more limited set of games for battery’s sake), I don’t strictly need great gaming support - but I do need the built in controller to work and such.

Bazzite is obviously quite popular for the Ally but I’m wondering if for my use case where I need robust desktop and games are streamed from a Windows box, perhaps it’s not necessarily the best distribution.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

I don't have anything in primary right now as I've been way too busy for way too long BUT, I just planted a bunch of wine grape vines. I know it'll probably be a while before I get anything out of them but I'm really looking forward to eventually harvesting! We've got 3x zinfandel, 4x merlot, and 4x chardonnay.

I'll probably end up making a pyment or two before trying straight wine - I haven't done a straight wine before and I'm more comfortable trying to sort out some adjuncts with a mead, so I think I can flesh out the flavor profile a bit if the first harvest or two doesn't yield enough for a reasonably sized batch of "traditional" wine.

What’s not working for you?

For me after a decade using -arr the only thing I’ve had significant issues with has been trying to use the Tailscale integration on Unraid 7 to tunnel the dockers through an exit node which is… not at all the fault of -arr containers lol

Honestly for the most part we need to not have HOAs. They offer very little benefit - if any - to most folks, especially in single family homes. I refuse to buy anywhere that has an HOA.

Maybe a slight use case in apartment complexes and such with legitimately shared areas, but even there HOA dues should be exclusively for repairs and maintenance to shared areas. They should not be fining people for their garden gnomes being an inch taller than regulation or any of that bullshit they’re infamous for.

And those apartment complexes etc probably don’t have the yard space for chickens anyway so they’re not really who we’re hoping to help in this context

Shit. Who do you recommend instead?

I guess I’m saying for now it makes sense that people would at least cross post

Folks gotta post here at some point to get the ball rolling but like, I found an aquaponics sub and posted there to literally zero response. I legitimately cannot use that instead of Reddit yet; there’s nothing to use. I posted anyway to try, just don’t shame me when I cross post the question back to Reddit due to silence here, yknow?

Reddit for the most part has FAR more active niche communities. If you’re mostly looking for Lemmy versions of subs that frequently hit /all you’re probably fine; but I also looked for subs like aquaponics and ROG Ally and found pretty much crickets on Lemmy.

For now, I’m on both, because some of what I want from Lemmy doesn’t exist here yet. But I’m participating where I can in to try and help populate it so it eventually becomes viable for niches as well

I believe it. I got warned and had my comment deleted for “glorifying violence”

I was supporting Canadian boycotts of American goods.

Let that sink in - I was reprimanded for glorifying violence because I supported economic protests.

What is an economic protest if not literally the primary, go-to alternative to violent protest?

Shiny yes!

Lucky, I don’t think so - AFAIK lucky doesn’t exist in any other Pokémon games so there’s no point really in tracking it.

I believe the event costumes and a couple other PoGo specific variations cannot transfer as well, but most stuff can. You could pack Pokémon into your Switch games if you don’t wanna pay for expanded Home storage

I only got warned but my comment was removed - I was supporting Canadian boycotts of American goods. Admin said I was “glorifying violence”

…I supported economic protests; that’s literally the primary non-violent option lmao

How’s the support for the Ally hardware in Bazzite? The controller, LEDs - stuff you’d m, by default, manage in Armoury Crate

I initially had a hard time getting accepted anywhere - couldn’t find any instances with open registration and the first few places I applied just never responded. I ended up applying to like a half dozen in one go and two of them responded so now I have two accounts. Lol

Places in video games is one option for me especially in cluster setups. EG cluster Tamriel has nodes Morrowind, Skyrim, Oblivion, etc.

  • Natively on default Windows?
  • Natively on another OS like Bazzite?
  • Streaming via Sunshine/Apollo/etc?

And as a follow up, why do you play that way?

I mostly stream to my Ally from my desktop via Sunshine - it can run almost anything at high settings on 1080p, and the Ally can be left on low power mode so the battery lasts forever.

I've left Windows installed on the Ally for maximum compatibility, but I'm playing around with the idea of a Linux distro because if I keep the desktop on Windows I can still play games that don't like Linux.

Curious what the rest of you all do and why!

I'm currently working through Avowed. It seems solid so far - I'm not far enough along to really have a fully formed opinion, but romping around fighting stuff with Garrus again has been a blast if nothing else.

We're still making trips to pick up all the pieces but I think we'll have at least 4 IBC chop and flip style grow beds and 4 whole IBCs

We have 40 Sacramento Perch - roughly fingerling size with a couple slightly bigger ones the supplier gave us because the fingerlings weren't feed-trained but the bigger ones were.

We'd like to acquire giant river prawn for a (separate) tank as well.

How would you assemble these into a working system with these parameters? Curious to see the different designs!
