Welcome! Good humor, I enjoyed it.

I got another sad email today on the delivery of my CE. Still no tracking info.

We are reaching out to inform you that your Collector's Edition order has shipped out from our facilities, however it has been chosen for random inspection by US Customs. We do not expect any issues, but we do recognize that this may cause a further short delay in getting you your awaited shipment.

We're sorry for any additional delay this may cause and thank you for your patience while this is sorted.

Anyone else get something similar? Anyone actually gotten theirs delivered yet?

How is the game performing on the PS5? What were your expectations, and how were they met?

Also, what size screen & res are you playing on and in what room?

Content! Early access; Launch. Patches, hotfixes, builds. So many discussions. A lot of that seems to be generated organically from you all. Great!

What other content would you like to see here? As we settle into this game, I expect the conversation to evolve. At the same time, now that we are post-launch, I think we have a great opportunity to decide how that happens.

  • What do you like about this community?
  • What topics are relevant now, what should be pinned?
  • What would you like to see here that doesn't exist yet?

I created this community when I left reddit; I like it better. I love this game, and talking and sharing with all of you. What's next?

Gale, Astarion, Shadowheart and Karlach are boldly going where every Early Access game must eventually go… to launch! Yes, this fearless foursome are venturing forth to Baldurs Gate, but it’s clear they hadn’t fully anticipated the changes Larian Studios would make to Baldurs Gate 3 between EA and 1.0. Mostly, they didn’t expect to meet new versions of themselves!

There’s someone new called The Dark Urge, Gale has a new face, Shadowheart has a new hairdo, and the high-elf rogue… well, he’s as beautiful as ever, which is why early access Astarion is trying to initiate a Baldurs Gate 3 romance with launch Astarion. Although, the old party isn’t long for this world: it’s all about BG3 launch content now!

Collector's Edition delay (us.merch.larian.com)

I got an email from Larian this morning, with some disappointing news. I ordered the CE as soon as I knew it was available (Sept. 12th, 2022), so I think I was pretty early in the queue.

We're reaching out to let you know your order of Baldur’s Gate 3 Collector’s Edition will be arriving 2-4 weeks after its expected delivery date of August 31. We apologise for this delay and thank you for your patience!

I was sad to get this email on August 30 when I was expecting delivery August 31 (tomorrow). I got an email and confirmed my delivery address on August 11th, so assumed everything was on track.

Has anyone else physically received their CE yet? Anyone else get an email with an expected delivery date? Anyone else get this email or something similar?

You can just jump in without playing the first two, for sure. But this is not like Skyrim or Diablo, as it uses a turned based action economy. When you attack or are attacked, the entire game stops, initiative is rolled, and every one in the fight takes their turn to perform their actions (and bonus actions). Everything. just. stops.

So this is not a hack and slash like Diablo or Skyrim, but it is an amazing game. I prefer games that support Real Time With Pause, where the battle can just carry out in real time unless you decide to stop time and micromanage your party, but in this game, every single step is micromanaged. The hype is well earned, and real. But if it's not for you, it's really, not for you. Hope you give it a try.

"Corrupted Stack" should be a swear.

Hell yes. Proton is huge, and Big Picture Mode is basically a console. I feel you on the controller support. With your encouragement, I finally connected a PS4 controller to my PC, and SEAMLESSLY explored a hostile area as a conjured cat. Amazing. (Still not giving up M+K, though....) Cheers!

Not that I strongly disagree with you, but did you see the map in early access? Ha! And at least we got a few things fixed in the inventory system since EA. Sorting and multi-select are key for a hoarder like me. They took so much feedback from early access and fixed most of the worst things they could. But I've been playing since patch 0, so....

Any game that gets anywhere close to being a good DnD campaign is Gold in my book. But yeah; certainly still lots of bits are undercooked and janky.

The first thing that comes to mind is the sheer number of crash reports they were getting early on. I know I submitted probably two dozen myself those first few days. Game is rock solid for me now, though.

The second thing that comes to mind is that they are clearly sucking up a whole lot of data around gameplay. The stats they published on Friday about how people played opening weekend was eye opening to me regarding the amount of data they are ingesting: https://steamcommunity.com/games/1086940/announcements/detail/6199820457241938860

You find yourself needing to check every last crate, barrel, etc., but do you find yourself needing to TAKE every last crate, barrel, etc.? Welcome to my new hell. I know I will take every rotten carrot, but why can't I take the rotting basket I found it in? Why can I only take some vases?

I have a chest at camp full of just chests.

For context, Larian Studio founder Swen Vincke predicted that the game could reach 100,000 peak concurrent users during its debut period, and that was a fairly optimistic prediction. I work in IT, and really feel for those folks. I hope they designed their infrastructure to scale!

And that's only Steam, not including GOG, or the influx of PS5 users next month. Let's take it to 1 million!

I didn't mess with mods in EA, but I'm tempted to give a few a try with full release. Specifically camera mods to start. Anyone using any mods at this point, and any you recommend or advise steering clear of? Thanks!

EDIT: I don't see anyone really using anything yet, so I'm going to hold off myself. I don't know enough about it to feel confident I won't jack up my game. Still hope to get some positive feedback regarding mods after release by someone here, so if you do use any and are happy with them, please do let us know!

This is the only wiki I've used since release. I totally agree about Fextralife and Fandom. Thanks for highlighting it!

I played the same damn human wizard throughout all of EA. I plan on doing the same for my first run. How boring am I?

[-] ThayWizGwar@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

Anyone here want to be a mod? ;) I'm guessung we're all going to be a bit busy the next few weeks, and I shouldn't be the only one. I never thought this day would arrive when I set this thing up.

[-] ThayWizGwar@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

I don't think so, Larian said no preloading before release. I heard that Steam went down when EA was released, so fingers crossed.

I bought it on GOG so I hope it goes up the same time.

Happy release day!

Not a popular opinion, but I love RTWP, and was sad that BG3 didn't offer the option. But I still struggle with the D&D action economy, and am forced to get better with it.

What's your favorite BBQ joint? (www.everettandjones.com)

I know there are much better, I’ve been to a few, but I always end up back at Everett & Jones. I kinda grew up on it.

I’m eating a lot less meat these days, but good BBQ is the food of the Gods!

How many of you have been playing BG3 on the Steamdeck? How many hours?

Would you agree with the GOLD (runs perfectly after tweaks) status it currently has in ProtonDB?

What tweaks did you have to make to get it to work, at what settings, and how was performance? Were you able to test any cross-save progression with PC or Mac?

Would you recommend this to others on a Steamdeck?

Any feedback for others here would be wonderful!

July 7th will be the final live Panel From Hell before launch on August 31st! I will dig up and link to the previous PFH's below.

Did any of you watch any of the previous ones? I'm pretty excited about it, and surprised that they are taking the time to do this with the crunch before the launch well underway!
