People need to get called out for this more.

I was thinking "I bet back in the day people would have called people out on their shit. That's why standards were higher". So I called some guy out on it and he was like "sorry sorry sorry. Okay" and he put his hands up.

Look cunt you obviously seem to know it's not right if you acting like that so why you being a knobhead? Just because no one will call you out?

Edit:corrected my own shite grammar

Hunter gathers (which human are from an evolutionary perspective) worked 4 hours a day and would have had a lot of exercise.

They were around similar, closely related people, with a united culture and strong community.

Their form of stress would have been "oh fuck a bear. Let's get away". "Wow remember when we spend 10 minutes this week stressed about a bear"

Humans work a shit load, including getting ready for work. Don't have time to sleep enough. Human society is largely devoid of anything that it should be, not enough of the stuff that mattered and too much of everything else. Low level stress is constant.

Honestly in this age of over cautious health and safety it's complete madness easily quantifiable permanent damaging volume is allowed.

Like even a warning and free earplugs are not given. Nothing.

"Here you go children. You pay we will give you a life long disability."

I suck at spelling and would like to know a word I have typed is wrong or not. Ideally with a red underline.

I really struggle looking at text I have written and seeing the mistakes. I have tried Samsung, openboard, gboard. None seem to fix the issue.

I'm willing to download anything as long as it's not a privacy concern. Is there any way to get what I want.

I also asked here. https://lemm.ee/post/30123483

"Spanish consultancy AleaSoft Energy Forecasting recorded negative hourly electricity prices for all but one European energy market it analyzed during the first week of April, including in the Spanish and Portuguese markets for the first time. It also registered an all-time production record for photovoltaic energy in Portugal and the second highest value ever recorded in Italy"

"In a statement, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said the Royal Air Force (RAF) will repel "any airborne attacks within range" of operations in the region.

It is understood RAF jets have flown over Iraq and Syria, not Israel.

PM Rishi Sunak condemned Iran's "reckless attack", pledging the UK would "continue to stand up for Israel's security". "

A Labour government would aim to increase defence spending to 2.5% of GDP "as soon as resources allow", Sir Keir Starmer has said.

The Labour leader also told the i newspaper he would conduct a strategic review of defence and security "to be clear what the priorities are".

Sir Keir's aim matches that of Chancellor Jeremy Hunt, who has also said he wants defence spending to rise to 2.5%

EU pushes to curb China’s green tech market lead

Brussels’ new probe into Chinese wind turbines comes as Beijing grabs dominance over global market for solar panels.

On paper, the EU sees China as a partner in the fight against climate change.

But the trade reality tells a different story.

As Beijing responds to weak domestic demand with heavy state subsidies, it’s a perfect recipe for overcapacity — from electric vehicles to solar panels — just as the European Union puts the green transition at the top of its policy agenda.

On Tuesday, EU competition chief Margrethe Vestager will launch a new anti-subsidy investigation into China’s fast-growing and increasingly dominant wind turbine sector, as exclusively reported by POLITICO’s China Watcher.

Europe was once a leader in the renewable energy source, but China’s rapid development since 2018 has inflicted billions in losses on its leading wind power players, including Denmark’s Vestas and German-owned Siemens Gamesa, forcing them into drastic cost cuts.

The EU is keen to avoid a mistake it made over the past decade, when China’s solar panel-makers all but killed their European competitors. Today’s playbook on wind turbines is indeed “all too familiar” to European policymakers, said one EU diplomat, who was granted anonymity to discuss the imminent policy announcement.

"Signed into law by President Biden in August 2022, the IRA, along with the so-called Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) enacted in November 2021, are intended, amongst other things, to funnel billions of federal dollars into developing clean energy.

The aim is to lower greenhouse gas emissions, and incentivise private investment, to encourage the growth of green industries and jobs: a new foundation for the US economy.

With a 10-year lifespan, and a cost originally estimated at $391bn (£310bn) but now predicted to reach over $1tn - the final figure is unknown - the IRA offers new and juicer tax credits, as well as loans and loan guarantees for the deployment of emissions reducing technology."

Some analysts think that China’s coal emissions have already peaked – or will peak in the next few years. We’ll have to wait and see if they’re right. But the fact that they can even suggest that a peak in coal use is coming, while China is adding more coal plants, seems contradictory.

Both points can be true, though. China could build more plants while burning less coal. It just has to run them less often. Based on data over the last decade or two, that’s exactly what’s happening.

Solar panels — 80% of which are made in China — are so cheap that they're now being used to line garden fences in Germany and the Netherlands, the Financial Times reported on Tuesday.

Ukraine should have a just stop oil fund raiser.

Raise some money. Blow up an oil refinery and say it was just stop oils funding. Will be loads of media attention and good for both sides.

[-] Wanderer@lemm.ee 41 points 9 months ago

It's really interesting reading all the information coming out of rugby right now. It's changed so much over time.

From my memory it went.

Concussion can kill you but if you get up with no symptoms you're fine. If you have symptoms wait until they go away then you're fine.

If you get a concussion and get up and you are fine but have another concussion shortly after you can die. You just need rest and then you are fine.

If you don't get knocked out you might still have concussion.

Repeated concussions can cause permanent damage and that damage can stack and make you more prone to new ones.

You can get brain damage from non knocked out big hits. This can manifest itself years later

Then when shit really hit the fan. Basic bog standard training sessions where you have no negative symptoms can cause brain damage if you do them too often. This is where we are now. Maximum contact training is in place. Players are getting g force sensors in their gum shield.

I can see this going futher to having longer breaks in games with recovery periods. They have changed the rules a about as much as they can. Head guards will probably be mandatory soon.

Finally the game might even die. But I expect the risk of brain damage when managed is less than the pros that come partaking in the sport.

I think I'm a fun guy that does fun things. Then when someone asks me what I did last weekend I just say "oh I had a quiet one this week" then I realise it's normally like that.

I came do the decision yesterday we don't need a 4 day work week we need short workdays so we can do stuff after.

Life should be like uni, more free time, meeting more people, having more friends, doing more sport.

UBI is the perfect capitalist solution to the majority of problems. It should allow for less market distortion and could have some really interesting outcomes.

I'm very excited to see a first world country use UBI.

That an externalities can go a long, long way in this world.

Every time I think about doing something illegal or hear about people from only a few generations ago doing something fun but slightly illegal.

Then I think. There is no way you could do that now the police would use all the surveillance that is everywhere and if I got caught their wouldn't be a slap on the wrist and grow up. But it would be a serious issue for my future jobs and going to other countries.

Makes me think I'm in a futuristic movie. Just not one of the happy ending ones.

[-] Wanderer@lemm.ee 42 points 1 year ago

Well they are saying there is no taxes on planes.

Planes need taxes and externalities costs included also, to get a true price.

Yes trains use more infrastructure but that is largely a fixed cost. I wonder what the marginal cost of running a train on a near full capacity line is verse a plane.
