Highly recommend piracy.

[-] WeirdGoesPro@lemmy.world 16 points 1 year ago

Lol.

Out of curiosity, does it not feel weird to pay $1 for an album that someone else clearly pirated? Cut out the middle man and plunder that booty yourself for free! Or pay more money and actually contribute to the artist.

Your current plan is giving your hard earned dollar to organized criminals for nothing more than the illusion of a legal purchase. What they are doing (selling pirated content for profit) is literally more illegal than piracy itself.

Luckily, I’m not. But I did find Huntsville to be surprising—both for the beautiful landscape and clear uptick in IQ points compared to the rest of the state. Great German food—bet you can’t guess why.

As the story goes, the ex-nazi scientists that the US brought in to work on rockets were first stationed in Houston, but they all hated the heat. They requested a transfer to Huntsville because the landscape was similar to the German countryside.

And that is how the US government allowed nazis to decide the primary location for NASA rocket research, which also happened to be in the same state as the headquarters for the KKK. Clearly, nothing could go wrong.

You’ve never been to Huntsville. Alabama has a surprisingly large number or rocket scientists living there.

You seem to be lost, stranger. This is Lemmy—we’re decently civilized here. Your tone suggests you must be looking for Reddit.

After a weekend of testing on a beater computer, I finally transitioned my media server over to ProxMox yesterday. It was a real trial to get the drives mounted to the VM correctly without erasing them, but an hour of googling got me to a working solution. Now that I’ve had a few hours to experience it all working correctly…

This thing is amazing. It gives me such a technology boner just to look at all the info it puts at your fingertips, plus I’m getting much better performance out of some programs after isolating them. Only complaint is the subscription pop up, but I’ll live.

So if you’ve been on the fence about making the switch like I was, I can definitely say you should do it. This is a ridiculously useful tool for any computer enthusiast.

The danger of passing a cigarette on the street pales in comparison to urban pollution, poorly regulated restaurants, and even household cleaners for the number of toxins you expose yourself to. Worrying about second hand smoke outside makes as much sense as worrying about malaria from a mosquito while you’re trapped in a cage with lions.

Some people seem to think that if we just correct all of our unhealthy habits we will live forever. My life has been better with some unhealthiness in it, and times that I’ve stopped has proven that. It’s your body and your time, so you should be able to use it like you want to.

Because every Far Cry game, either directly or subtly, has a major pro-America bent to it. In the early games, basically every protagonist was a white American who was ready to kick some local ass for varying personal reasons. Then, we moved into culturally appropriate protagonists, but they all still heavily represent an American view of positive values, often surrounding democracy, equality, and/or self determination.

This isn’t necessarily a negative, it’s just the genre. Like 80’s action movies, it’s about making a western audience feel badass rather than representing any sort of reality. I’d hazard a guess that Far Cry isn’t a bestseller in Cuba.

Local Network Wiki (lemmy.world)

I have a self hosted media server, and I want my family to use it more so I don’t have to do everything for them. I think the best way to do that is to have a wiki available on the local network where they can see a reference of how to use things. What is the best way to accomplish this?

I’m running Ubuntu Server.

I am running Ubuntu Server with Plex, qBittorrent-Nox, and CyberGhost. I want to route qBittorrent through the CyberGhost VPN, but not Plex.

I have never used Docker, but from what I gather online, it seems like the containers operate like little VM’s for compartmentalization and resource allocation. If that is correct, would I be able to put qBittorrent-Nox and CyberGhost into the same docker container to route qBittorrent-Nox through the VPN while Plex runs outside the VPN in its own snap?

Thanks for the help!

And if it is possible to correct your vision with the camera lens, can the picture then be printed with the same clarity for the poor vision haver?

Last time I saw Death Grips in this town was at the Mohawk, and the entire crowd knew what they were there to see. I’m curious to observe the Mumford and Sons crew when they wander into the wrong side of the park and find themselves faced with brain melting levels of techno, drums, and screams. Anyone else have a prediction for how they will land with a more mainstream audience than usual?
