Take bites at an angle and don't get all layers in each bite. Not the most satisfying option, but does allow you to eat a burger as a burger, even when they're too tall. I'm pretty sure I just unhinge my jaw, though.

I haven't read any of the books, but you are absolutely correct about Anakin from the movie. He and his mom both were for it. Sure, Anakin had some reservations, but that makes sense. His guardian certainly gave permission.
