Woodworking. You start with a few tools to fix things in your house, and suddenly, you got vintage handtools worth thousands of euros and you seriously speak of installing your "shop".

I'd probably use Pasion de las Pasiones or Hillfolk. Both games are all about drama, inter-character relationships.

Dark ambient industrial is always fitting for the most stressful moments, projects like Lustmord, Raison d'Être, Ambre… and of course, if you can find the albums (edit: well, they're on Bandcamp…), there's always Camanocroszcope, a collab between Ah-Cama-Sotz and Iszoloscope that specifically aimed at a lovecraftian ambiance. They released two albums in 2003 and 2006.

Worldographer or Wonderdraft, depending on the style of map i want. Worldographer can add key numbers to the hex grid, but not Wonderdraft.

It's p2p, and the protocol is not very secure. You should probably use a VPN, yes. The content shared is really good, even if it has slowly decreased along the years. Just be selective about who you tell about slsk to help keep it under the radar, please. First rule of the blue bird is : don't speak of the blue bird.
