I am simple man s I use rsync.

Setup a mergerfs drive pool of about 60 TiB and rsync weekly.

Rsync seems daunting at first but then you realize how powerful and most importantly reliable it is.

It's important that you try to restore your backups from time to time.

One of the main reasons why I avoid softwares such as Kopia or Borg or Restic or whatever is in fashion:

  • they go unmantained
  • they are not simple: so many of my frienda struggled restoring backups because you are not dealing with files anymore, but encrypted or compressed blobs
  • rsync has an easy mental model and has extremely good defaults

is there a readable version?

check with a very popular torrent

Guys, downvotes are not the DISLIKE button, let's not become reddit please

Not only it can be done but I think it is the way to go. You then have to manage permissions and backup only on one database, and the performance improves given that you let postgresql manage it's own IO. It goes without saying that you should use postgresql instead of mysql

100% this, there isn't even a shadow of doubt

you don't really have a high bandwidth so I am not surprised that it makes no difference. For me port forwarding is the difference between seeding at 16MB/s vs 3/4MB/s

this makes you even more awesome

As someone who used those during their peak, I’m well aware of the risks of getting unwanted stuff, not to mention that you’re fully exposed within the network.

I have been using it behind a vpn and so far never had a problem. I have never had so many "thank you" from any other old school p2p software

just seed bro, seed until the hard drive catches fire

try to find copies of it using dht crawlers
