Also seems like Dansup is finding a lot of spam accounts on lemmy instances too. He manages the fedidb of all the fediverse software and platforms with various metrics

The irony of the magazine name and bricking the magazine. Glad you got it fixed!

I like that part too. Makes you engage in the conversation already going and add your own comments to that, rather than repeating the same answer over and over.

We've added a new, and hopefully improved, dedicated forum for our community

What is hard too, is if all the posts to get things started are the mods or creator, the same ghost town might occur. It’s hard to tell or know what will be interesting to get people talking so to speak. Some should also be put on the subscribers as well who also have an interest. It’s a double edge sword sometimes.

Absolutely! There’s a lot of community members and new ideas of things that should happen and. It as well. The federation between instances is what makes it new as well and there’s a lot of opinions as well.

Kbin is actually less than 6 months old on the public side and I’m sure mobile apps are on the forecast. I know there is an app in the works already too. Even lemmy is a little young in public use so any mobile apps are not as polished.

The apps being built are by others offering their time for the greater use of the fediverse.

I like how kbin in a way combines the thread feel of posts and the microblogging timeline of mastodon into one thing.

You can follow users from each platform as well and follow their posts as well.

This is a good point too. I saw some many that I'd like to follow that didn't even have a Welcome thread so, to the idea that some are just name grabbing as well and hoping it'll be useful one day.

Part of the federation is multiple kbin or lemmy instances can all have /popularnamehere and than can federate to to the other. Plus /technology on kbin could be wildly popular while another may not be. Or both are going strong, but folks like more responsive in one instance than another.

Omnivore is the free, open source, read-it-later app for serious readers. I'm looking into setting up this read-it-later service. I have a lot of URLs saved in my browser and need a place to bookmark them as well. Thinking this is a good place to start.

Anyone else using omnivore?

That is how the federation works! Also can see posts on other platforms like Mastodon, calckey, plerma. Enjoy!

Transferring domains on your own is a process…. Wonder how much harder it will be moving registration and user accounts, dns, Whois, name servers, etc. hopefully it’s easier for the users too and don’t get stuck in migration limbo.

What is the Loop Device disk with snapd/snaps/gnome-* is this part of an upgrade process?

On kbin there are options to upvote and downvote. The upvotes are related to favorites and boosts are like reblogs in the mastodon scheme. kbin has a unique way to blend the thread style of communication and content with the microblog that is better federated to other Activity Pub server instance types.

With Federation on pause for now on kbin.social, I wonder how the fediverse will handle all the outgoing and incoming federation requests then. Reminds me of the Twitter migration and things stalled for a few days.
