There's been plenty of discussion on defederation.

I propose we defederate no instance other than those with egregiously illegal content such as CP. Note that I know of no such instances.

As of the moment of this post, the only defederated instance is lemmygrad.ml, so voting Yea would refederate them. It's a genocide-denying Marxist instance.

Should probably start looking yesterday.

So begins the game of broken telephone.

Other than being hosted at the same ip as lemmy.ml

For example, I tried with !news@kbin.social - not found.

No need to defederate. I just went and blocked loli and related communities that popped up. I will never see them again.

So, my vote is NAY.

I see where you are coming from, but semi isolation is inevitable as groups with opposing views just don't want to see each other's shit.

Just create alts on other instances. The world is your oyster.

What exactly prevents bots from spamming the shit out of Lemmy besides human moderators?

It didn't exist, so I decided why not create it and see if people show up.

Post quality content, and let me know if you'd like to moderate because I most certainly do not.

tl;dr The U.S. Consumer Price Index (CPI) for May rose by 0.1%, lower than expected. Year-over-year CPI slowed to 4.0%. Bitcoin increased by nearly 1% after the report. Market participants now indicate a 79% chance of the Fed pausing rate hikes. Stock index futures are slightly higher, while Treasury yields have decreased.

Seems to only happen with lemmy.ml for whatever reason. Hitting the "subscribe pending" button and trying again makes zero difference.

I remember when AMAs were organic and people actually answered questions. Before prepared questions and answers became a thing.

Just like with reddit, I don't use defaults.

something that dark basement tech nerds would come up with that is “edgy” and really only used by them and other people like them.

That's exactly what it is and why I love it. The whole thing about this federated networking is that it doesn't matter where you signed up.

I love this instance and I hope it continues putting people off with its name.

Subscribe pending? (sh.itjust.works)

What does it mean and how do I fix it?

[-] darkwing_duck@sh.itjust.works 24 points 1 year ago

There's no karma here. And thus no karma farming.

That's actually awesome for users of sh.itjust.works. Like myself.
