You’re not wrong, even including what was available it still wasn’t anywhere near enough to make itemized deduction a reasonable option. I mentioned the plumbing mostly because I thought it was funny that it was actually included in the list of valid deductible expenses for maintaining a home office.

I don’t know where you live but in the US the IRS considers rental income as regular income for tax purposes. So when you fill out your taxes it just goes in your bog standard income section.

Additionally all expenses incurred for certain repairs and maintenance are tax deductible. My house gets similar tax breaks as I work from home, so things like plumbing repair (I guess considered an essential service) and regular maintenance can be deducted (although I’ve never gone over the standard deduction so I never really realize those benefits).

In every imaginable way rental income is better financially than “standard” income…though not morally.

I have to since I’m in PA. I mostly care because I want to see more of this….but not just a threads post, but like actual political action. Still better than Oz, but man does it sting being fooled so thoroughly.

I think it’s important to remember that this was pitched as a single game originally. It was announced the year Mass Effect 3 came out. Comparing it to anything else is honestly pointless. Rockstar is building a game off its success and profits of GTA V. This is a ten year saga of broken promises and scope creep so astounding that people are saying they’re building four games when they’ve yet to prove they could deliver one. That’s just wild.

Not sure if this counts but women’s World Cup and FFXVI.

[-] dragna@midwest.social 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah I think I was simultaneously surprised about that, and how long Mojeek had been in the game.

[-] dragna@midwest.social 6 points 1 year ago

Mojeek has been an interesting alternative. I do find myself using google as a backup when I’m not getting what I need, but Mojeek does tend to present very different results.

I don’t think any other search engine, including DuckDuckGo, has its own web crawler like mojeek does. DuckDuckGo is security based, but still google in the end (similar to how most browsers are actually chromium). It apparently also uses a different term algorithm so you have to readjust how you search because it doesn’t do anything predictive or “smart” in its searching for results.

Foreground is sweet potatoes and background is just your basic white potatoes. We’re struggling to keep the grass down in this garden (more on that in another post) but I’m really happy with these cedar boxes.

Lowe’s has this cedar fencing that’s like $2.50 a board. Each box needs 9 boards (I just chopped the tip off all the boards, and then cut three in half for the short sides) and I think the one post was $15 or so. Stapled some lining inside, three in old logs, used straw from our goats, and then crap dirt until the top inch. Hopefully these boxes look okay after a year or two because at just around $40 per box (6’x3’) I’m already pretty chuffed.

These are great games, but I don’t know if I’d recommend them to beginners into the world of JRPGs. Their primary draw, for me at least, is the complexity of their battle systems. It’s a lot to take in if you’re new to the genre. I could be monstrously wrong though, heh

Tales of Arise is great. The whole Tales series is really great, but Arise really felt like that next step from niche to the preeminent example of a modern epic JRPG. Something Squeenix has been trying and largely failing to recapture.

That feel you get when Duo Mobile app asks if you’re having a good time with their app. My job made me install you Duo, we are not friends.

Same, things have been running a lot smoother when I popped my head in today.

It’s definitely a transition. I’m loving it so far though.

Mentioned it elsewhere, failed my mulberry harvest, and I didn’t plant this tree, but I’m so excited to possibly get a pie or two out of this harvest this year.
