after scrolling through a couple days and accounts on the extended db0verse it's extremely hard not to come to the conclusion that it's a haven for people who think Rimu specifically is some kind of combination antichrist/lolcow who is personally here to destroy all of mastodon, lemmy, and the concept of federation itself. some choice extracts from the very fine people over there:
[Rimu] is an active danger to the entire fediverse as a whole. [...] you better expect questions on why you’re helping to further this narcissistic psychopath['s] control and influence. [...from that user's bio:] Rimu is weaponizing the fediverse against you.
very reasonable and normal account to have on your instance
Rimu is breaking the Fediverse. We had a good thing going for a few years.
that's right, he's personally deleting every post on the internet forever
Hi. Admin of Lemy.lol here. [...] When I joined the Lemy.lol team, I was informed that Rimu had pre-emptively defederated from us sometime ago due to our logo. Pepe the frog. [... He's] not merely a [power-tripping bastard], but a dangerous one.
fucking lol it's these chuds again
Did Rimu suffer a TBI or get way into something mind altering?.
that last one is on a thread completely detached from Rimu, by the way. Rimu possesses a kind of hyperagency, capable of superconvincing everyone of everything which is why any and all defederation due to AI slop is actually secretly his fault
so yeah, good riddance
db0's roundup doesn't pass the sniff test either. i'm supposed to take on your word that it was an "experiment" (testing what hypothesis?) and an "inside joke" (where is the explanation?) despite the paper trail showing approximately 0% of this being true, but you're totally comfortable speculating on the actions and motivations of Rimu -- nay, a mysterious unnameable "piefed developer"? you have the gall to be salty they didn't edit your narrative into their post about your instance admin's behavior when you refuse to even say their fucking name? it's gross! it's gross.
lol at "corporate-LLMs"
stolen from cohost but i appreciate the succinctness of "capitalism make computer bad"
and so i pass on the burden, like a virus, to all those who seek truth but must instead whip out their phone to scan a QR code and then get welcome-pinged 18 times in #general
50% success rate? sorry, all this for a coin flip?
i needed this giggle, gods bless our dubbers
you have to scroll through the person's comments to find it, but it does look they did author the body of the text and uploaded it as a docx into ChatGPT. so points for actually creating something unlike the AI bros
it looks like they tried to use ChatGPT to improve narration. to what degree the token smusher has decided to rewrite their work in the smooth, recycled plastic feel we've all come to know and despise remains unknown
they did say they are trying to get it to generate illustrations for all 700 pages, and moreover appear[ed] to believe it can "work in the background" on individual chapters with no prompting. they do seem to have been educated on the folly of expecting this to work, but as blakestacey's other reply pointed out, they appear to now be just manually prompting one page at a time. godspeed
oh 100%. on the flipside of that, the advantage is that usually it's relatively easy to flip basic constructions into sneers. the combination of getting their arguments picked apart while being mocked usually causes the monocle to fall off the seal reeeal quick.
maybe there should be some kind of scoring system. perhaps a golf-like. par for three comments before they complain about your tone (sneering in a sneer club, my gods!), four for getting themselves banned. a bonus sticker in the shape of a star if "ad hominem" is typed verbatim
oh good there's more
fucking LMAO
it's a good thing there's no FOSS code in the missile silos! it's a good thing the upcoming Palantir tranny tracker won't use FOSS libraries! this shit actually pisses me off
