I make my own unforgettable sandwich. It goes like this: homemade wholemeal bread with seeds, homemade butter, lettuce, ham, skinless tomatoes, hardboiled egg, mayo, spring onion or radish or dilled(fermented) cucumber.

I used to buy almost everything on Amazon - electronics, books, kitchen/office/cleaning supplies, etc. Back then I was a Prime subscriber so I did not pay for the delivery. As for the delivery, it was blazing fast and the item was always in a mint condition. In case of any issues I was able to sort it out within a day or two. And the price was better than the other online or brick and mortar stores.

However, at some point the quality of the products went downhill. Support became unhelpful and the prices got higher than the competition. One time I had some issues with the order. It never got delivered and the process to get my money back was way too long and too complex. Eventually I have contacted my bank and reported the fraud. Eventually I got my money back. Turned out that such issues were not an anomaly and a lot of people reported shady sellers.

Since then I have unsubscribed from Prime and every time I found something I wanted to buy I've checked the seller and if there was a website I bought directly from them.

For past few years I didn't buy a thing on Amazon.

As for the alternatives, I don't have a single one. I have several websites I usually buy from but in general I always do some research and buy the product from the seller that has the best price and is trusted enough.

I've been reading about various breakthroughs in battery world for past decade or so. So far none ended up in a consumer product.

I would have never expected the EFF to use a lame click-bait headline like this one.

I've been using open webui for some time but I wanted to test the Alpaka, a KDE app - https://apps.kde.org/alpaka/

When I click on an "Install on linux" button, Discover app is opening and gives me this error "Could not open appstream://org.kde.alpaka because it was not found in any available software repositories." When using dnf there's no such package as Aplaka. I can find and install other KDE apps. What am I missing?

I'm on Fedora 40, KDE spin.

Earlier today I received an email from Proton with an annual survey. Among standard questions there was a significant amount of AI related questions, e.g. mail assistant. Does it mean Proton is looking into AI?

I'm a happy user of Inoreader. I like it so much I'm considering buying a premium plan. However, I'm looking for an alternative I wouldn't have to pay for. I came across FreshRSS. The only thing that's keeps me from moving is the sync. I don't want to expose it to the internet but I want to be able to access it on a move. My first idea was to use Syncthing. Is there a way to use Syncthing to sync feeds, settings (read articles, subscriptions, etc.) across different devices? By different devices I mean Linux, macOS (optional) and GrapheneOS (Android) phone.

Working from home proved that most of the people are capable of "self-managing" and don't need a corporate drone telling them what to do. I have a feeling that the push to get back to the office is fueled by insecurities of middle management that became redundant.

I've been macOS user for past decade. I've switch to Linux a year ago and the first thing I did when I tried Gnome was to switch to KDE. I like how Gnome tries to mimic macOS but it's still has long way ahead. Gnome was really good on a touch device but I kept hitting the wall with small quirks and eventually I switched to KDE. I know it's unpopular opinion but I find macOS UI superior to both Gnome and KDE.

I have setup Proton Mail app to autostart when I log in. It works fine but I want the app to start minimized. Is there an option I can pass to the proton-mail command to start it minimized?

I just stared using Proton Pass, moved from Bitwarden. I have few simple questions about Proton Pass configuration.

  1. How can I switch to light theme on the website and in the Firefox addon?
  2. How can I get rid of the available passwords counter on Firefox addon?

Is there a way to add Spotify to Android Auto running GrapheneOS? So far I have gotten to the point where I can add a new shortcut using the Assistant command. However, no matter what I tried, I wasn't able to add Spotify to the apps.

I've been playing around with the self hosted apps for quite a while and I got to the point where I'm happy about my local setup. Next step is to setup reliable offsite backup. I'm using borgbackup as a tool to manage my backups (so far only local backups). I've been looking for an affordable yet reliable service to store my backups. Is rsync.net worth it? According to the "internet" it's a good service but wanted to double check. What do you think about it?

Linux on a tablet is not a good idea. I've been using 2-in-1 laptop and it sucks as a tablet. If you want a device to read books get an ebook reader. I'm using kobo elipsa 2e and it's amazing. However if tablet is a must have get pixel tablet and install grapheneos.
