I generally don't miss anything graphical, once I learn how to do something from the cli I rarely feel the need to do it graphically anymore as it's usually a lot slower

The obvious one would be Photoshop and paint.net of course but krita does the trick

I'm guessing Firefox's pdf editor is not sophisticated enough

Closest continuer doesn't really apply if the agent wasn't sentient in the first place

Who'd have thought not having explosions going off inside the car constantly would cause less wear and tear

That doesn't fit the definition of memory leak in my mind, had thought a memory leak was specifically when the program completely loses track of memory

I'm not in the US no, so far nobody has mentioned it in conversation

Fair I'm not really on any other forums anymore and I haven't heard anything about this CEO death until just now

The beauty of federation is that even if you're on a "dead" instance as long as you're federated with bigger ones it doesn't matter

That looks a lot like task manager, what tool is that?

[–] flashgnash@lemm.ee 1 points 6 months ago

Surely that's not a memory leak, that's just the program using a lot of memory intentionally

[–] flashgnash@lemm.ee 4 points 6 months ago (3 children)

Thought the whole point was that it forced you to handle memory properly and automatically released things when they go out of scope

What kind of situation can cause a memory leak in rust

Lemmy is going to be exactly the same, super easy to scrape as it's all standardised and open

I've noticed YouTube specifically has become more addictive, I never used to be one to sit and scroll for long durations before but I often catch myself spending way too long on shorts now

Even people or older generations seem to be getting sucked in nowadays

With digital circus coming out recently I realised the 2000s game aesthetic can actually be kinda cool and endearing

It feels like games nowdays are kinda soulless and generic though, glossy and modern (Obviously except for indie games)

Will the 2020s aesthetic be microtransactions and lootboxes?

I have been spoiled for customisation by hyprland recently and have been looking at customizing my phone UI

All the custom launchers I've tried so far are rather lacking in customisability, features and are usually paywalled for "advanced" features like having more than one widget

At the moment I think I'm going to end up back on the default one

I have been experimenting with react native as I heard it's one of the good ones, and so far it is not a particularly enjoyable experience. Lots of irritating things like no global styling, lots of ugly, hard to read properties on tags, etc

In a perfect world where you get to choose, which frontend frameworks would you use and why?

I've found the built in nix firewall to be somewhat lacking (can't have different ports open on different networks for instance, I would rather reduce my attack surface while out on other people's/public WiFi)

Is it possible to use other firewall software on NixOS declaratively?

Apologies if this doesn't fit here, not sure where else to post something like this on lemmy

I think having gravity act like weather might be an interesting concept for a fantasy world, where each country has its own gravity patterns, some tend to be heavier some tend to be lighter, some are all over the place

For a few examples, there could be a desert with gravity so high you can get dragged down into the sand

Could be a country with gravity so low everyone uses personal aircraft that work like bicycles instead of land vehicles

Animals in higher gravity areas would have less dense bones, more muscle, etc and lower gravity would have far larger animals because they can support more weight

In a really high gravity area people might need exoskeletons to prevent long term damage

I get that it's open source provided you use codium not code but I still find that interesting

Just occurred to me that there might not be one

Saiyan saga has kaioken which isn't technically a form but may as well be Frieza saga has super Saiyan, cell saga has super Saiyan grades and super Saiyan 2, buu has super Saiyan 3, bog has god, then blue, blue evolved and ui

Am I missing one?

I bought a cheapo capture card a while back but the quality is pretty terrible

Is there any reason PCs can't just receive HDMI/displayport input from other devices through the same mechanism they output it?

For that matter also is there any reason HDMI can't be run over Ethernet? Afaik ethernet has far more bandwitth than hdmi nowadays

Seems people frequently talk about negative experiences of them then end up banned shortly after

Also seems like people are weirdly quick to jump to their defense for the internet

I still unfortunately need a windows VM as backup Is it possible to declaratively setup a VM given a path/url to a virtual disk image

Was rather shocked to find BT hubs don't allow you to change DNS servers anymore and force you to use their own ones, so I can't properly setup adguard.

What routers are people using now that are reliable and will let me control my own network configuration
